Is the AJP engine a TVR ownership or is it built by an outside firm which TVR used and is also put in other cars.

It was designed, developed and built by TVR.

So if the AJP engine is totally TVR why are they moviving towards the Speed six. Why not stay with the devil you know,

It was designed by Al melling, John ravenscroft and Peter Wheeler. Based on an existing design by Al Melling which he had done as the basis for a modular (V8, V10, V12) engine intended for F1, the customer was a japanese company.

I believe it is an expensive engine to make, the design does not lend itself to low emissions and I also think that they might have to pay Melling a license fee per motor.

Of course I could be talking bollocks

They're all TVR engines in that sense, they just stopped using the name AJP some time ago.

Anyone ever considered putting, or indeed has put, an AJP V8 in a Chim or a Griff? Or a Tamora? Would there be any point in the latter other than a V8 is nicer than a S6? Just a thought or 2.

Peter Wheeler did, in 1992. A prototype was shown at the 1992 Motorshow but the engine was still some way off being ready so the trusty Rover V8 was enlarged to 5 litres instead.

John Ravenscroft had a pearl white Griff that had the AJP V8 installed .. apparently they considered it a bit too wild for the road....

I can believe it....

I'd love a 4.5 APJ in my car .. although it would spoil it's originality....
