If you're particularly looking at insurance, don't assume that the TVRCC approved scheme will be best / cheapest. It certainly wasn't either for me, and I don't think that I'm in a minority. I would currently recommend talking to http://www.hagertyinsurance.co.uk/

Which other ones are you thinking of? I don't recall ever hearing about any except for the TVRCC.

You get a discount from Hagerty for being in the TVRCC - which I didnt realise until I renewed this year and happened to mention while going through all the mods with them that I was in the club. Cant remember how much they knocked off, wasnt a huge amount £20 or £30 I think.

Sorry to sound like a pedant, but its a car club not an owners club. You don't have to own one to join!

...yes but if you shop around, Sunninghill, A Plan, and many others will come in significantly cheaper. I've just done the comparison, with club discount from Manning £580.50, same terms from A Plan £382.20. Don't be fooled by the headline 10%, it's 10% off a very large number. Shop around and pay less

Try out these insurers

It really depends on your age group these ones above are great if your older but if like me under 25 they hammer me, i use elephant. Adrian Flux who give the TVRCC 10% did a great price too think i was £620 full comp for a 24 year old with 4 years no claims.

Mannings are no longer the TVRCC's 'approved' insurer - its is now Adrian Flux

i did a search in Google........and several options came up - which I could join. The first one I tried was free - so i figured it can't be that one!!

I usually use Competition Car Insurance for my other stuff...........so i've quoted them

I'm going to try the ones mentioned above for comparison.

Just for info i've just been quoted 549.......for 5000 miles, with 4 years NCB (i'm 34) and 1000 excess. I didn't qualify for advance driving course unfortunately - despite holding a National A for 5 years........

I didn't say Manning is 'approved' but they still give 10% discount for TVRCC members not that this means much when their rates are so high.

Adrian Flux are no different, I have yet to hear of anyone that couldn't get a better deal by shopping around. The 'approved' status provides the insurer with a captive market. From that market there is bound to be many people who blindly believe the hype and accept the offer without checking other speciallist insurers.

Being an approved insurer does not provide a captive audience, they all have choice.

It's difficult to find a like for like product, but its not difficult to criticise. I have heard of several folk who are happy with the deal they have from Flux, and before that Mannings, but then I've not got a gripe with the TVRcc.

You realy must move on Bob, lifes too short.
