When I press the boot release button on my pre-cat Griff, nothing happens.
I have tried putting a tester on the wires going to the solenoid and pressing the button, and it indicated NO power. I used the exhaust as an earth.
Which fuse does it run off?
I have bought the Steve Heath book, but can't find anything about this in there. Maybe I missed it....

Has anyone ever taken the dash out of a Griff? How hard is it?
Has anyone else had this problem?

Try page 162 under Boot: emergency access. The details are also in the owner's handbook.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear.

I do already have the boot open. Thats how I tested the wire to the solenoid.

I just want to know which fuse it goes to, or what area to look at first, so I don't go on a wild goose chase.

It is fed from an ignition switched supply. There are several fuse candidates depending on which fuse layouts you have.

The exhaust is not an earth candidate as it can be hard to get a good contact. Use a battery jump lead clipped to the engine instead.

I suspect that the solenoid is dead as that usually is the fault.

Good idea using the jumpleads Steve.

All done now. It WAS the solenoid......

Now one more question.

Which kind of glue is it one uses to stick the carpet back onto the inside boot pannals?

Cheers again mate

Some suggest EVO-stik but I use a spray on upholstery glue. Does the same job but is easier to control. Better motor factors sell it.

Glad you've sorted it out.
