This has been posted before but I cant find an answer if indeed there was one
The thermistor at the front of my Chimaera is US and I need a new one. Does any body know if availaable from Maplins and what part No

Clevor Trevor do them for £20 plus PP and you can get just the thermistor from TVRcarparts but it works out at around £9 with Vat and PP. This seems alot as Maplins do Thermistors for an average price of 68p.

Thanks

Sorry, I forgot about this thread!

Ive taken a quick look at the two parts that you linked. Alas, i cant tell you which part you would need to buy from Maplin etc as theres not enough information to go on.

I have found two parts on www.farnell.co.uk that look like the part on TVRShop and these are part# 1164822 and 1164823. The difference between the two is the resistance measured across the temperature range. Normally with thermistors you select based on the resistance at 25C.

I'm afriad without a working one to compare against, its pot luck as to which one you buy. However, given the costs, you could buy a few different ones, individually attach them to the wires in the car, and drop them in some iced water and see if any cause the ice detector to alarm.

I have one of Clever Trevors in front of me and it has "1k" on it

Thanks for the replies
So does the 1K mean the rating of 1K ohms @ 25 deg

Yes, I would expect the 1k to be the resistance at 25C.

I'd also expect it to be a NTC thermistor
