I have not had chance to give my car a proper polish since i've had it. I have all meguires stuff and was planning of using the clay bar then the 3 stage polish system like i have on my other cars, problem is the TVR is black and even the tiny straches stand out a mile, i have bought some scratchX in the hope it should sort some of them and at least improve others.

But do i use the scratchX after the clay bar or after the stage 1 cleaner?

Used the Meguiars polish on my black Range Rover didn't like it one bit left marks behind but wasn't to bad on the silver Cerb. I would machine polish with a light compound if badly marked followed with auto glym polish out of direct sun light.

I'd give the car a good wash first to get rid of any grit, then clay it , swill off and dry , then use the Swirl remover. I guess you're claying it because the paintwork feels rough ??? The claying will make it nice an smooth by removing any impurities adhering to the paint. I'm going to try some 3M stuff to remove surface marks.

I use Race Glaze products, Creme perfection but have now graduated to 55% Carnauba.

Yep I agree with Keith use the clay after washing but before the swirl remover, If you've swirl marks and holograms in your paint I'd suggest using Farcla G3 on the more severe swirls and then graduate to something like Dodo Juice's 'Lime Prime' which is less aggressive and will take out the finer scratches. Then polish and wax.

I always find it useful to apply the resin polish in small circles and remove it it striaght lines, forwards and backwards movements, emliminates the risk of leaving swirls in your paintwork.

I use the Meguairs deep crystal 3 stage stuff, and scratchX,

I think the paint cleaner is very similar stuff to the scratchX. They actually are very high quality cleaners i think, to take dirt out of scratches and fill in slightly with the product itselg, they dont remove any paint.

I have a black tuscan, a couple of minor scracthes on main bonnet but after treating with the three stage its very hard to see anything.

Do it one panel at a time too or it hardens and becomes an absolute bh to get off, especially on black - leaves marks and takes a huge amount of buffing. Needless to say - if your in warm sun you need to be even quicker and go sparingly or you will regret it! speaks the voice of experience wink
