Lack of power through 4000rpm

As i hit 4000rpm the power drop off is very evident athough it will still rev all the way, it just stops kicking me in the a
e
I'm sure it's not mechanical as in cam as no nasty noises and happened almost overnight.
I suspect:-
Coil... anyone know the Bosch part nr?
sensor...any clues which one?
Fueling/injection... i really hope not!!!

... well at least until i get a few ideas Could one of a thousand things, [guess mode on] could be the mechanical advance mechanism on the dizzy stuck[guess mode off] this would give similar symptoms, including a loss of power lower down that you've not noiticed yet, AIMHO 
If its not simple then a quick run on the rollers will help if you are near a set and probaly cheaper in the long run than changing the engine piece-meal(sp?).

Mine had a real bad point at 4k, it was the tune resistor broken in two. I have a code reader so it was quite painless to find what was wrong, otherwise i would never of looked at it.

;I had the same problem after an engine out job. Took almost a year to find the problem: a worn cam. Strange as it happened almost overnight, but it was indeed the case. You can check by measuring the valve lift (should be somewhere around 12 mm). New cam and now it won't stop until well over 6.000 rpm.
Could also be: collapsed inlet hose, coil/sparks, timing advance changed.

It was a badly connecting plug lead onto the dizzy cap...
Very painful to find as the it was only braking down when at considerable rev's and being wiggled about...
Strange that it was so bad at 4000rpm+!!!!
Feels so much quicker now i'd better get it on sooner rather than later!!!

I agree with what Podie said "Might be running lean following your exhaust job... bit like mine was..."
I've only had my Chim for a month now. Mine too has the rear cans chopped off,smells like it's running a bit rich and also has that lack of mid range pants down torque, or am I just getting used to it
