TVR's in Austria ...?
Discussion
Hi, does anybody know if there is a way to get a TVR in Austria ?
I know that there are a few LHD TVR's in Germany if I remember right. But is there a dealer or something in the area and can you test-drive one?
( Over here, TVR's are a 'real' rare breed! )
I'm even thinking about doing a drip up to Scotland and rent a TVR for 2 days, will be bloody expensive, but at least a chance for me, not only to see one of this beasts from near by, but as well to drive one figure out if all the expectations come true.

Hi, Christian!
There is no dealer here now. DeCillia stopped business 1 or 2 years ago. As for the post Chim/Griff modells (some call them T-modells) no road permission given for Austria.
Really not many Tivis over here, we really struggle to getting together 2 cars for a short fast trip.
Maintainance is - of course - up to yourself.
As Stephen suggested, if you like get in contact with Josef - I guess, Marchtrenk can`t be too far from you -he owns a Griff and M and he´s very nice.
Or, of course, conntact me.

There is a dealer in IIRC München, as reported by Ted: www.pistonheads.com/tvr/index.asp?storyId=7559
but their website seems to have given up the ghost (it worked, when I've visited it a few days ago).

Cool, Marchtrenk is around 20 Min's away.
Could have guessed that!
How about the Cerbera? ( Thats the one that catched my eyes ... for its more or less unagressiv look. )
Would it be okay if i would join one of theses meetings once? ( If an MG isn't too unwelcome. )
It's not that I'm start searching right away. ( First we will porbably buy the Defender in the next few mounths, for my g/f and to replace my 2nd car. ) And that made me wonder, the little MG will need to be replaced one time as well, and I just can't think of any car I would like. And to replace it with an MGTF? Nahh... I would like to have something with a bit more space.
For the TVR's ... since I saw .. sorry, heard! one in London 2 years ago, I'm compleatly hooked up. Sure they are a bit expensive, but not out of the league.
Guessed that
Actually, beside the normal services, if it would have come to bigger repairs, beyond my abilitys, I would have thought of the local Jaguar-Dealer. ( They are used to deal with oldtimers and exotics ... price but worth. )

I was over in Austria in July for a wedding - as I had only just purchased the Griffith I took over a few pictures to show people. All the Brits attending new precisely what a TVR was - the Austrians mostly accused me a driving a Jag !
I know a few friends are going over to Austria for a golf week next August - Can't be bothered with the golf - but I am beginning to think I need drive out in the Griffith and join them.
I can already hear the V8 echoing between the mountains !!

Christian,
"How about the Cerbera?"
No way,it is all about the Rover egines.
5 and at least 4.5 Liter Rover engines from 1995 on are possible. As I only know two 5liter and one 4.5 liter car that have the permission, there must be a way for 4 Liters as well.
Would be a little run if you are the first.
"Would it be okay if i would join one of theses meetings once? ( If an MG isn't too unwelcome. )"
There is no meeting in foresight, but you are very welcome if you pass by St. Pölten.
Excuses for a drive are always welcome.
Which MG? Is it a B?

That is exactly what I meant, a good mechanic is able to keep the TVR alive, as spareparts are available.
Mine is maintained like a vintage car.
As mentioned before. TVRs are absolutely unknown and are very easy mixed with Triumphs as they are similar unknown and eventually all the same anyway.
Many people keep telling me that the Griff is a Jaguar, some mean it´s to be the "brandnew" F-Type, others are convinced it is a vintage Jaguar.
I gave up insisting it calling a TVR, as I am fed up of getting looks like I am not responsible at all.

Thanks dod, have allready bookmarked the links!
I heard alot about the wonderful Rover V8 ... or "Britain's best musical export" as it is called. But I must commit, I never heard one
I never thought that I would feel almost ashamed for it one day, but it's an 'F.
It is my first birtish car, and when I bought it, I wasn't up for british cars. Actually I bought it because I wanted a RWD car, (and a BMW was just to dull) plus a Mid-Engine car sounded something worth to try and beeing a convertible didn't made it less attractive.
It turned out to be not what I was expacting ... it turned out to be much better. I started to learn more about the old MG's and by now I'm compleatly hooked up to british cars.
Actually I had a look at a Triumph MK IV with friend last summer
But I guess, I will go for one of those when I'm a bit older.
