Clutch fingers

My dealer tells me that my Tamora's clutch may have broken pressure plate fingers, and this may not be covered under the warranty. Please can someone tell me what these fingers are? Is it normal for these not to be covered under warranty? Is this likely to mean that I need a new clutch (please say no!). The car is just under a year old and has done just over 10,000 miles.
I'd have thought that being under a year old the car should be under warranty, esp if you are the only owner??...maybe different if you are a 2nd owner...I do hate it when anyone tries to wriggle out of their warranty obligations...

I am the 1st owner. They said something about the warranty company not liking to pay out for broken fingers but my dealer is going to see what he can do (he is very good).
Don't ask!! I am authorising repairs this week (as the car has now been off the road for over 5 weeks!!) and will then fight the idiot's insurance company to claim it back.

Surely during the first year its TVR themselves that should warranty the car and not a third party? Suprised if TVR doesnt cover warranty, and even more suprised if they 'farm' the warranties out to 'third parties'...my Cerb wasnt brand new when i got it so not completely sure, I stand to be corrected/informed.

My clutch went due to the fingers breaking off, and is classed as a part breakage/failure, and so it was covered under the warranty, through warranty holdings. However, they may only pay out a percentage of the costs. They would only pay 33% of my costs, but I needed a new flywheel as well which was classed as an upgrade, which they wouldn't cover. The car had done 26000 miles. Your car is relatively new and nowhere near as many miles.
Your dealer should fight your corner for you.

I'm afraid these breaking clutch fingers is a pretty common (if unpublicised) problem. Mine broke on my Tuscan RR at 24,000, necessitating recovery followed by a very expensive clutch replacement. At 30,000 (while the engine was out for its second rebuild), I was advised to replace the clutch again as the finger ends and release bearing were badly worn and liable to go again at any time.
I'm told that the clutch unit is the same as that fitted to the Cerbera and that many people have had to replace at very low mileages.
I gather the unit is an AP Racing part which is exclusive to TVR (so you can't buy replacements other than from TVR).

At 10K miles and under one year old the car is still covered under the manufacturer's warranty, this should cost you nothing at all. The reference to a 'warranty company' is a bit of a smokescreen. The dealer is a TVR main dealer I presume?
I recently had my clutch replaced on my 4.5 Cerbera at just under 30000 miles due to the clutch fingers, Warranty holdings took the big hit on it along with the flywheel. The Total bill was about £1400 i had to pay £180 i think towards it for the clutch wear. I have heard sometimes the warranty company won't pay sometimes part and sometimes full. I had to have an inspector out to look at it and i couldn't authorise the repair myself until he had been out or i would have to pay the full amount .... but all completed from failure within 4 days.
I have just had a call from my dealer who says that the clutch will not be be covered by TVR and will be chargeable. I have said I will not accept this and he has will speak to the factory. Apparently the Warranty Holdings coverage is different to TVR. Surely if a warranty company will pay out, then the manufacturer should also?!

Is this normal practice??..If for example I were to buy a brand new TVR, do TVR themselves have their warranty covered by a third party?..surely not?!?...I would be very suprised if TVR refused to rectify this problem esp. as it has occured during the first 12 months of the cars life....
