The popular, and logical, school of thought is that prices are lower in autumn and winter than in spring and summer. However, probably for this reason, people tend to advertise their cars in the spring and summer. Hence, you get many more cars on the market at those times, which means the supply and demand effect can come in. On top of all that, there will often be people offering their cars at reasonable or 'emergency' prices throughout the year - so I'd say the best thing to do is keep your money in a no-notice account, keep your eyes open and be ready to pounce when the right car and deal arrive.
Supply and demand has an effect, but their are relatively few TVR's out there (cf boxters/911's etc)
So if you when you do see a good car, I'd be inclined to get it while you can (especially if a more unusual coulur combination).
A good car will always sell, the main factor being how desperate the seller is for the money. Some will sell because they will have to. Some aren't that bothered, and will sell when someone loves the car enough to take it off their hands (i.e they might not want to sell it really, but are going thorugh the motions -
, keeping wife, etc happy, but keeping the car, and if they do get lots of cash binus, for the bnext one)
