This came to me as an-email round robin! is it rubbish or true?

Just thought I would share this with you,
as you know I work in the speeding fine department in Swindon's Magistrate's Court and in the course of my investigation into 'fines, their payment methods and how points are automatically added against drivers licences' we discovered something very interesting 'If You Get a Speeding Fine.'

This has been tried and it works.

I have tried to send this to everyone I know. I know for a fact that it works so if you ever get in this situation, you have an out. We
discovered that this procedure works nationwide. Read it and try it, you have nothing to lose but the points on your licence.

This is how it works:
If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you are going to get points on your licence, then there is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get any points.
When you get your fine, send in the cheque to pay for it and if the fine is say, £40, then make the cheque out for £41 or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a
cheque for the difference, but here is the trick!

  • DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHEQUE!!!** Throw it away!! Points are not assessed to your licence until all financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the cheque then the transactions are NOT complete. However, the system has got its money and is happy and will not bother you any more. This information came to our attention from a very reliable computer company that sets up the standard database used by each county's computing system.
Good luck and share this with all your friends and other family members as well!!!

I have heard this before but have no idea if it works or not. However I would definately give it a go if I got a speeding fine.

Complete rubish. They don't refund the extra. Your cheque is returned, you then miss the chance for the FPN, end up in court with a larger fine & potentially more points off the Magistrate for trying to take the pi**

yep complete ruibbish I'm afraid!
I heard that one about 8 years ago, I trid it including the cost of postage in the cheque and they sent me my cheque back asking for me to send a new one to the exact amount and advised me of the fewer days that were left before it would go to court or be exposed to more fees or whatever it is

Somebody I know, has been using a merry go round system to avoid tickets. He's took the pi55 a bit by doing it on at least Twelve tickets. Various people have been interviewed & the police have knocked his door a few times with a view to questioning him, but he's so far avoided them.

His solicitor's advised him to get his finances in order prior to handing himself in, as he'll almost certainly be looking at an unplanned holiday for perverting the course of justice biggrin

I avoided a speeding fine and points......

got pulled over for speeding near Rayners Lane on a speed trap..... got issued a 7 day wonder which was also going to involve confiscation of licence for points to be added.....
In my wisdom I lost the docket with all the details of the offence on....... popped down my local station with all my documents explained what had happened..... he took all my details (insurance etc)... and then gave liscenec back explaining that as he had no paper work/ref numbers to tie up with the offence it was pointless taking my licence...... never heard anything...... was about 18yrs ago though.... things have moved on......just wanted to tell my story biggrin

There are things you can do: Ask to see a calibration certificate for the camera etc. However I'd make sure you have a good lwayer before arguing!
