Just wanna pick your brains folks.
My Cerby has just been serviced and a few jobs rectified, I mentioned at the time of service that the car did'nt run cleanly at about 6000rpm. It came back and ran as sweet as a nut, but there is still a mis-fire at 6000rpm which gives a similar feel to a rev limiter cutting in. If I pin the throttle it revs through the mis-fire (eventually) and hits the shift light then rev limiter.

The dealer is gonna have another look, but as they said, in the current wet and icy weather 6000rpm in a Cerby is nigh on impossible to achieve, which I do agree with!

Any ideas/advice/info guys? Not worried about the prob at all, would just like to be looking in the right area to cure it.

P.s. Before you start Ben, lets be clear my big blue beast will eat your red jelly mould if I only used it up to 4000rpm let alone 6000rpm........let battle commence...

I'll get me coat.....

A bit complicated but I've sent you an e-mail explaining why it happens and the fix.

Why didn't you share it with us all? Valves? Throttle pots? HT leads? Worn cam? Bad temp sensor?

Cheers Fish, your info very much appreciated mate

Danny, I will pass on the E-Mail if you give me your address, but I think the problem I am experiencing is a rare one which only affects the S6's.............I think!

Wasn't trying to be evasive but it is quite rare as I understand and easily fixed the explanation goes on for some time, so I didn't want to be posting very detailed stuff when that isn't really in my remit.

In brief however:

It involves resonance through the no.1 butterfly spindle onto the throttle potentiometer which results in the ecu miss recognising the signal from the pot. This leads to the ecu in certain cercumstances trying to over open the injectors with the result that the injectors don't open hence no fuel for a millisecound and the effect is identical to a rev limiter (in varying degrees of severity)

It is quite rare and is fixed by slightly remapping the chip.

If you have experienced this problem speak to your dealer or the factory who are fully aware.
