Standard SEAC exhaust is nothing more than a slightly large motorcycle race can. I.E. no baffles and only about twice the diameter of the pipe! When the packing hardens with age they get ludicrously loud.
The second silencer fitted as standard to the rear of all other Wedges wasn't even an option on the SEAC because of the modified body

Had to smile recently when at a TVR specialists. They removed the exhaust to take the wadding out of a Griff500. Then they had to move the car 'sans' exhaust, pretty loud me thought, when they put the exhaust back on no difference in the sound as far as I could tell 
.
The only problem I have with that is that it, IMHO, loses some of the quality of the deep bass a well tuned car has with a 'proper'exhaust, again IMHO.

IMHO some of the 420 SEACs and then the 4.2 Cerb. Both of these can have more highly tuned engines than their 4.5 variants. 420 SEACs can be in excess of 120dba.
Nacnud, you should know better than to say standard exhausts for all other wedges where TVR are concerned; for example my first 350i han three silencer boxes, as was common for an 85/86 model.

Perhaps the words 'TVR' and 'standard', should be replaced by the phrase 'in the main' .
Not heard enough varients of SEAC's to say one over the other myself.
perhaps at the next Mania we could have a exhaust note competion between SEACs , I would quiet happily offer to help with the judging .
Still maintain you can spot a well tuned V8 by the note of the exhaust and not necessarily just by the volume though.
