I have had pre-det problems with my '99 Griffith since I got it in March. A couple of dealers have tried to correct the problem, but to no avail. Then I took the car to Austec, and again Paul had difficulty finding the cause. Then last Thursday he identified the problem, 2 points in the fuelling map had wrong values. At certain loads and RPM the ECU was shutting the fuelling off. It seems as if this was there from new. New values were loaded and the "pre-det noise" is now gone. The car now runs a lot smoother and fly's through the rev. range.

So firstly, thanks to Austec for finding the problem (they are to set the car up properly on the rolling road next week) and secondly, was this an issue with just my car or was the "corrupt" software used on other 5.0 litre V8's? Any chip change would have cured it.

I took a photo of the fuelling graph and map (Paul changed the corrected values back to show the graph as it had been), could somebody please host the picture?

Dave.

I can pop it up on the Surrey site for you if you wish. Mail me through profile.

Perhaps you can compose a few sage words about what you're having done to the car for the website at some point. No pressure tho', I'll host the pic anyway.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks Steve, the picture is on it's way (full size).

Re. Work - Austec are setting up the car on the rolling road, changing the front disks and calipers for Hi-Spec and changing the springs and shocks for Avo's. If you want before and after, let me know.

Dave.

It's a chubby one Steve, 2.2Mb. I can only reduce it through Photo Editor and so lose definition. E-mail me your address through my profile.

Certainly is! I didn't get chance to look at this last night, but I should tonight. I presume the two low values that are out of kilter with the others are what you want to pick out. I'll see what I can do, but will host the raw image too.

It is also now up on the Surrey website under:

www.tvrcc-surrey.co.uk

Selct Gallery on the menu, and then you will see a new icon for Technical Bits and the graph is in there.
