Hi ALL,

My Chimaera is coming up for an MOT I have a small bullet type hole in one of the headlights.Does anyone know if this is a mot failure? If so how difficult and expensive is it to replace the lens?

Thanks in advance for your help chaps

Yes, it is an MOT failure.

Dunno about the replacement, though. They're glued in, aren't they?

You can buy transparent tape to cover the hole and it is not then an MoT failure. The problem, though, might well be that the headlight cannot be focused.

I've not used it for headlamps but have for a slight crack on a rear lens when I had trouble getting a replacement (Ginetta). It lasted about three months.

You could always drop into to your local friendly MOT centre and ask them if it's a fail or not, before you rush out and buy new headlamps. On my BMW I've covered over a tiny hole with a small piece of Armourfend offcut - still there after two years.
