Chassis inspections
Discussion
After a gap of a few years I have decide to purchase another TVR. It seems that chassis corrosion is an increasingly relevant issue and that a professional inspection is advised as repairs can be very expensive.
I am based in the South West and my local expert (Dulford Automotive) showed me a Chimaera that had apparently been inspected by a 'specialist'. He had completely missed significant corrosion which required replacement of the outriggers on both sides.
Other owners posting on this website have had similar problems with other so called experts.
Given that the inspection itself can cost a significant amount of money I believe that a negligent inspection will certainly incur a financial liability for the expert if the owner is put to significant expense to remedy defects which should have been picked up on the inspection.
Can anyone recommend someone who genuinely does a good job with inspections. Ideally I would use Dulford but some of the cars I have considered are located in the Midlands and therefore I really need someone competent in that area.
