Could anyone please tell me if one can obtain super plus 98 RON in the UK. Having just returned from Germany where i must say apart from being 80 pence per gallon cheaper the fuel grading system is excellent. If I am unable to get 98 should i therfore detune to 97 or 95 RON ????? Car is a 1994 chim 500 one of the first mrfd with Grf engine as was not type approved for Chim in Jan 1994. views as to best way forward as I wont be doing 160mph plus round Berlin for a while thanks all..........

Thanks for the reply.. it seems to be running well on super in the UK at 97RON as recently demonstrated at Elvington Airfield the other day. I thought that the ECU/lamda/and other sensors adjust the timing rather than twisting the dizzy ??? Tim

No, the ECU only controls the fuelling and idle. Ignition timing is under control of the distributor. Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
