I thought I saw or heard about some designated TVR parking at Thruxton on Sunday. Am I imagining this or is it true?

If so, which entrance should I use and how do I get there?

I haven't sorted anything.

I think Graham is trying to organising a convoy for the Berks lot, I'm coming up the B3084.

There is only one entrance, I think!

Beware, for the F3/Tuscans the BIB were out on the A303, collecting for the widows and orphans fund or something!

See you there.

Why not park in the George car park and walk through the industrial estate, may be 10/15 mins?

What a great day, enjoyed the drive down & meeting up with the usual suspects.

Highlight of the day was the parade laps we were invited to do. Although we were not supposed to exceed 60mph, I have a feeling we may have gone a little quicker.
Much respect to our new TVRCC Chairman, whos Cerbie was seen fishtailing around one particular corner!!

Perhaps I might try a track day after all.

never mind a track day pick up one of the race tawsmins that are for sale and come racing...

Its great fun, even when you car decides 5000rpm is more than enough and refuses to let you have any more.. still made it an intersting race. hanging on for dear life and over taking in the bends where there isnt anyovertaking, and then getting re passed on every straight bit.. still managed 12 from 14 on the grid and 9th for the finish... not bad when the logger shows we were 20mph down on the straight.....

So what are the costs involved in racing for a year then? And what kind of people do you need to be able to race?

well if you exclude the cost of rebuilding the car after a heafty smash at the end of last year, my running costs come in at 6.5k

that includes, tyres, fuel, entries, some repairs, engine rebuild, change of diff and some testing.

realistically i reckon you could do it for 4k at the absolute miniumum 6k is probably reasonable and double that plus a bit if you get a team to run you and do more testing.

there are 4-5 cars available from 6-12k depending on spec and condition.

what type of person do you need to be. Ahh thats easy anyone with a sense of humor ( you'll need it) and the need to drive a car quickly.

I'll warn you though its like a drug, once your hooked you've had it

He was just happy I didn't crash it on the way there. He'd obviously given his normal chauffeur the day off Sounded lovely especially going thru Petworth and the fishtail (by the Chairman) was as planed

It was great to see so many fellow club members at Thruxton.
Especially Simon and Ralph who have my sincerest vote for their positions and more power to their elbow!
(or right foot... whichever :-))

I agree with Grahams point about the track stuff.
It is doable...
The whole point of the Tasmins was to bring grass roots racing to those who just thought about it.
Best not to sit back in years ahead and say 'I wish!'
How about saying.. 'I did!'

Thanks for the support we saw at Thruxton.
Please tell the others!

There was a photographer on the start finish straight on Sunday, during the parade lap anybody got any ideas what his contact details are. He was also taking photos of winners of races etc.

Great day out could not believe our luck to get asked to round the track - Just a shame about the fuel pump leak - May be that was why a few people got out of shape?
