Hi guys,

My Tuscan's battery blew up and the engine caught fire last night. Pease see my thread here and give your anderson connectors and battery shielding a check before driving in the rain this Xmas!

I had my anderson plug changed last week as i was told it was dangerous and could cause a fire like the one at power did.

A must check for any service from now on i think

Sorry to hear about the fire.

One question that occured to me reading this and the linked thread. If a battery fire causes a loss of power, how do you get out of the car (T350 in my case) if the power goes. Is there an emergency door release inside the car somewhere?

Hey folks!

The insurance company have to do a secondary inspection. The first one came back as "moderate fire damage to the engine and battery area". With Xmas and New Year in the way they're going back some time this coming week, so hopefully I'll know what the outcome is by Friday!

I'm having problems with the hosting company for www.mytuscan.co.uk so it's offline for the moment. I've been told it should be back up by tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see...

Happy new year lads and ladies!

BigJL I am sorry to hear about your car. Hope you get it all sorted out ASAP. I asked the TVR Centre to check out my battery and wiring when I had my last service carried out. They suggested replacing the corroded anderson socket. I suggest everyone gets their batteries checked out at their next service.
