Timed this bad, but insurance renewal is due soon, so time to make some calls!

My existing company's quote is fairly reasonable but still a fair wedge, so room for negotiation methinks!

Soooo - who's hot and who's not at the moment....??

I got a cracking quote from hagerty in oct (£400), rang at the weekend to take it out and they have stopped insuring under 30's on TVR's gutted as the next best is £589.

Hagerty also do a policy for multiple cars too.
I've had my TVR with them for a couple of years and this year I added the Landrover for just £100 extra. The quote from NFU Mutual was £198 and they couldn't get anywhere near the price from Hagerty - not surprisingly really.

Oh, one downside. 10% of the policy value per track day.
I guess that puts paid to my LandRover racing days paperbag

Quite suprised first time i rang because they open later than most and answered the phone promptly, unlike most of the other companies. The person i spoke to had owned an S as well so new exactly what i was talking about. Put together a quote which i couldn't belive at first but they confirmed it via email straight away. Very happy with them so far.

Since (looking at your profile/car history) you also appear to be a "miseable OLD git" wink , try Mannings...I know people say they're expensive but for oldies with low mileage policies , I think they are very good, plus will give an agreed value on your car, so you know what you'll get if you are unfortunate enough to write it off.

Hagerty was great nice to be promptly answered and speak to someone who knows what a TVR is all about and its like the old days were you cpould talk to your Bank manager rather than an hour trying to talk to a B-----y Machine good company and great price for me.

I've just used 'Compare the Market. com' for my Tuscan. Was quite cynical about it at first but got a quote from Admiral which was over £200 cheaper than my renewal price from A Plan.

Worth doing for the sake of 30 mins in front of your PC thumbup

I called Hagerty when I got my Tuscan, guy on the other end of the phone didn't seem interested. Took my name, type of car and age then gave me a quote pushing £1200. No questions about NCB or address.

Not impressed with them at all despite all the good rep they get on here.

Eventually went with Admiral and there multi car policy. £540 all in for both cars.

Although a competitive premium is important, how an insurance company handles a claim is even more so. I can personally recommend Chaucer through Sunninghill. The broker is very good and helpful and Chaucer deal with claims promptly and efficiently. An agreed value which sometimes costs more is not always the best way as I found when I got market value for my car which was more than the value given when I took out the insurance.

Hagerty. Their handling of my recent (no fault) £10k bash to my v old Chim and uninsured loss recovery (i.e. recovery of my policy excess) was excellent. Also nice people and genuine car enthusiasts.

I hope not! I'm 25...

My S3 cost £220 a year with 5000 miles in quite a high risk area with a recent prang at 24. The next closest quote was about £800 and I had a few at over £2k (from specialists). A 400SE V8 Wedge was even cheaper at £180.
