Hi,

I'm looking at joining the Police and am currently going through the process to join W.Mids or Staffordshire or W.Mercia. Fancy a more different type of job that i've been doing up untill now (office based). So any police officers out there who can give any advice of what it's really like what i can expect the 'real' shift pattens?

Thanks Lee

Have a look on the "Speeding, Plod & the Law" forum. The BiB's are pretty easy to spot...

knowing how nice it is to drive fast safely. Would you nick me if you caught me doing over the speed by 20mph in a de-restricted zone at 6.30am on a sunday morning with no over car in sight (well thats what i thought):sratchchin:

Treat this as an examination question.

I'd like to ask our venerable angry law enforcer a question about the police, if I may?

Having recourse to their services recently, I was dumfounded by the seeming obsession with geographical jurisdiction: treatment of my report seemed less important than actually analysing who was to be responsible for pursuing the matter.

I realise that with the ridiculous resources and preposterous tasking you guys suffer this IS to be defined but I swear, it took over a day in multiple phone calls before I was able to get to the meat of the subject. Seemed crazy...

Indeed, when an officer finally popped round to my home for a chat, he empathised by way of a sympathetic explaination of just how bad the bullsh1t now is: he said he had even heard of instances where responses to traffic accidents were delayed due to jurisdictional issues.

I told him I believed all officers should be on £50k per annum and issued with plasma rifles to which he heartily agreed but we both concluded with the familiar acknowledgement of a prevailing pre-eminence of administrative red tapism and unimportant over politicisation causing a discolouartion and massive lack of focus in areas that 'the people' generally need/required/wanted.

I must say, I really do admire the BiB but the crap they are saddled w1th must be soul destroying.
