anything south of watford. yorkshire, Northumberland and derbyshire are all rubbish, too hilly, stay down south.

In that area, but I love the road from Lavant to South Harting via Chilgrove. Lovely sweeping bends, but you can see far enough ahead to pass with gusto!

Probably N.Yorks Moors, as visibility makes them safer, but not saying which ones or the cops will be laying in wait. irked

I would think that anywhere darn sarf where you can get into top gear and more than 10ft from the nearest vehicle must rate as exceptional. hehe

I love the coast road from Hayle up past Hell's Mouth, through Porthtowan, Portreath, St Agnes and Perranporth smile

Maybe oop north you can hoon on A-roads, but down here they're not only too congested, but usually a bit, well, straight too. Hence look for the B-roads. smile

I have some local(ish) favourites, like the B1004 from Widford to Bishop's Stortford or the B184 to Thaxsted, but I wouldn't kid myself they're world class.

I guess you'd first have to venture to somewhere little populated to get a road wide enough to really hoon on that isn't congested. Secondly, a hilly area might be useful as that way the roads are built to follow the contors and not straight lines. So, that would go back to North Wales or the Scottish Highlands I guess.

Has to be said I really miss decent roads. I grew up (and began driving) in Devon. Back there I could drive in a way that just isn't possible over here in the South East and on roads which, again, you just don't get here. I swear my driving ability is suffering as a result of the move!

Carrickfergus to Portstewart along the coast road. Breathtaking Scenery and pretty good road surfaces. Then do it in reverse as the views better.
