Following my MOT, it was discovered that my track rod ends were in need of some attention as the rubber had split (split on the off side by cracked and ready to split on the near side). Is this a job that I can leave until my next service (3000 miles time) or should I get it done now? I know they don't cost much (£15 + VAT I think - wish I knew which Ford item they were as they are only £9.99 from Ford spares parts - saves a tenner!), but it's the whole - take a day off work, take car in, find something else needs attention etc, rather than the planned 1-2 day service (if tappets are done as well) that is planned in advance.

Here are pikkies of the off side, I didn't take any of the near side - and yes, my car isn't as clean as VARLEYHYDs Sagaris (Oh to be THAT clean!).

Oh yes, if it makes any difference to the track rod ends (as in part numbers) mine's a Tuscan on a 51 plate.

Looking at the joint with the gaiter down it looks very dry. There is a good chance it has already begun to seize.

Was there any play in the joints witht the wheels off the ground(side to side). If yes then replace.

With my masters hat on I would say they need doing now and it should have been an MOT fail anyway.

If it was my car...pack it with grease and wait...but its my trade and i know what I can get away with.
