Hey guys currently selling the chim on here and have someone looking to get a report done on her to check condition before he comes the 350 miles to see the car himself. I am in east Essex can anyone suggest someone local who will do this cheaply and efficiently?
Thanks
Dom

thanks mate,
I was thinking about using them but I have used them for all my servicing so I don't know if my potential buyer would see this as a conflict in interest. I suppose the best thing to do is to ask him.
Thanks cerby

Rob did a top job for me on both TVR's I have bought. Very thorough, well written report, nothing missed, accurately valued and well negotiated.

Top service

It's easy not to miss something that isn't wrong. The real skill is finding the bits that are wrong.

Oh yes agree with you, but he did find things wrong, informed me, reported on it correctly and negotiated accordingly.

Top service for me

Another great pre purchase inspection guy is Steve of Intermotion, gives a really detailed feed back report. I have seen some of his reports, and would defently use him for a future purchase! Think he charges a set fee £300, no matter where in the uk it is!

That's all very well if he points out everything.

It's when his report points out a couple of cheap to fix things and you negotiate accordingly.

Then you find the car has other issues.

Immediately after purchasing my car I needed to replace the engine loom and the dashboard loom, plus all the fault finding costs testing the whole engine trying to find the cause.

These weren't in the report.

There was a host of other issues.

I would urge anyone thinking of using him to PM me first.

I am happy to let people view his report and the invoices for the work. Over £10k of them in the year after the report. Then they can make up their own minds.

Not wishing to upset you Craig but be fair mate...if I recall the report done on your car was carried out several months before you bought it...anything could have happened to it in the time between that & you buying it.

To the OP, given what you say I cannot see any problems with you taking the car to Leven, they'll look after you.

Mr Fester

To be fair to any inspector how are they supposed to check a wiring loom?!

Do all the electrics work? Yes/No? Do the items known to have issues work? Yes/No?

After that what is anyone supposed to do?

Maybe an inspector or even the one mentioned will comment but I seriously question how theywould identify the issue you mention on a general inspection

There are a few people (3 spring to mind) on here who never miss an opportunity to put the boot into one particular inspector. Their postings usually include an invitation to pmail for more info. They will doubtless say that they are doing it for the benefit of the potential buyer but I think there is an element of vindictivness. Every thread on inspection and they are there. Obviously the inspector concerned does not have the same opportunity to reply and as there are always two sides to any story it's unfair and in my opinion the moderators are a bit lax with this. If it's true that there was a time lapse of a few months between inspection and purchase as above then that poster loses credibility immediatly by not mentioning that fact. What else has he conveniently omitted?

By far the majority of people are perfectly happy with the service they have received which takes a great deal of hassle out of car buying.

Personally I have used the inspector twice and been perfectly happy.
