RG have an early tubbed Chim for sale at £29,995.

A Tad Pricey?

Big Deal it is LHD. From what I hear they are no way near as rare as is made out here, lots have been seen rolling down the production lines (you just had to askf or one and pay the price at the time).

This one is the early front (big gapping moth with the nasty mesh grill) and no mirror blips too!

It does not even say what engine it has - so you can bet it isn't a 500.

I'm all for these over inflated prices.

People might actually start to believe they are worth that much. hehe

Indeed a 97 old style tub with a 4.0 or 4.5 (it is not a 500 as they would say) is max 10 - 11k (maybe 12 for an immaculate one). Hmm let me think there are competent people that could do the conversion for a few surely a few grand (even 4-5 grand - but not really much to it).

I know of one LHD Chim 98 500 (I think) in Lichtenstien that is having the same conversion as mine (we supplied all the parts but he is just taking a VERY long time to do it). Christ knows what that would be worth!

Maybe I should put mine on for £39,995!

I like the wheels, but not sure if I'd pay an extra 20 grand for them scratchchin

I'd also do some hard bargaining to have the car cover included, along with my 20 grand change. hehe

I'm quite interested actually but reckon I'd get them to fit RHD..then surely it'd be even rarer wobble

[quote]Are you on Drugs! - They are the std 5 spoke with some blue paint on! And even the they are 15" front and 16 rears, the old base 400 spec jobs.

I do wonder how they sell any cars the prices they charge. Christ mine is on for 10k less and has had way over 20k spent on it to make it Spank all but one or two trick tvrs!

Do they really think they'll get a buyer without actually saying what engine it's got?

That makes Jon's purple chevy monster look cheap, and makes the two Chim's that Fernhurst have parked out front for £9,995 look like the sale of the century to me.

Will be interesting to see if it sells.

You are absolutely right. This is a ripoff price and just wont sell at this price.
If it is an absolute minter and doesn´t have a single flake of rust on the chassis and the rest is spotless it would maybe fetch the amount in € when it comes with a generous garanty from a dealer.

Cheers Jens

P.S. What ECU are you running on your LS-Chim and does it have Cats?

Damn - I knew I felt ripped off when I sold my mint 97 400 for 8750 at the weekend!!!

Strange though how so many dealers still have 97/98 400s up for early teens. Are they actually selling at this price as I thought I was chancing my arm advertisinf at 9250?

You need to do a little more research wink . It is not unusual for a good quality, low mileage, LHD Chim or Griff to sell for around EUR40K. Given that the pound will only buy 1.25 Euros at present, I don't think they're too far off the mark.
Edited to add the smilie, and to state that I need to make this claim in order to keep the values high smile

Std Gen 3 PCM/ ECU - this is the dogs adnglies and is infiniately programmable (all all LS engined cars (97 - mid - late 2000's, i.e. Most Holdens), LS2/7 had a more complex still ECU. Wortec mapped mine. Cats Yep.
