How many of you good people will be taking their cars off the road for the winter,it does seem to have come early as I write this.Just curious really as its purely academic for me now as I sold my TVR at the end of August frown (and yes it hurts now)I was planning to keep mine on the road over winter as I thought it would be best to keep the cob webs out although I had already bought a daily driver before I had thought of selling.

Delayed mentioning the selling bit as it seems to make it all so final and Sprint turned up yesterday which does not help ,grumpy well bye for now
Andy.
PS the winter question is a serious one,I WILL be back.

I think the general consensus with most modern TVRs are unless you have a centrally heated, dehumidified garage to put it to bed in its best not to leave them laid up any time of year.
They seem to perform better and be more reliable if you can use them as often as possible.

Totally agree. I use mine all year around, except when they have gone totally overboard with the salt. In my experience (a long long time now), regular washing underneath and use is by far the best way to keep TVR's in top condition.

Never ever ever laid up myself. Always used and abused in the winter. Mind you, -5 sans roof needs a bit of wrapping up.

Agreed, but I do make sure that a good coat of POR15 before winter, and after is also a good idea.

Mines layed up at the moment but that's just because the clutch went last week and waiting till after christmas to get it fixed due to it needing an MOT then and Santa bringing me new toys for it.

I never lay mine up. Even in the worst weather, the car gets an outing at least once a fortnight. The only time it stays in is if there is salt on the road.

I always lay mine up. The plan is to always start it up once a week and run till fans cut in. Turn on/off electricals a few times, and move position of wheels so tyres dont settle in one spot. Did this on my previous Trev also with no problems. Trickle charger also connected.

Exactly what I do, but i put mine up on stands, so I don't get flat spots in the tyres.

I bought mine when there was ice on the road and ill still be using it all through the winter. Aside from the salt, with the summers we have now theres not much difference driving summer/winter.....so remove your cars from their bubble wrap and central heated garages with trickle chargers and use them as they deserve! soapbox
