This may be a long shot, but here goes!

We're returning to New Zealand in about 18 months having lived in the UK for the last few years and have every intention of doing so with a Chimaera stashed in the shipping container. Hopefully a '98+ 450 if our budget stretches that far.

We had a '66 289 Mustang back home and after living with an anaemic 2 litre VW Sharan for the past four years feel the need for that V8 rumble again!

Has anybody out there had any experience in, or knowledge of, exporting TVRs to NZ? e.g. preparation work required, things to watch out for, passing NZ car regulations etc?

I've learnt an awful lot from reading the boards over the last six months and, following the sentiment of another frequent contributor.....

Cheers in advance

Jono,
Give Fernhurst a call, they advertise on PistonHeads. I was in there at the begining of January and they were just preparing a Chimaera to go to NZ. Apparantly the guy bought it over the internet from them.

Jono,

There's a Brit by the name of Jamie Heasman who now lives in New Zealand. He has a Chimaera. Not sure if he reads the Gassing Station but you will be able to find him on the TVRCC mail list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tvrccmaillist/

Or there's my old pal, Jim Gamsby, who is the TVRCC New Zealand organiser. His address and phone number is in Sprint....

Thanks everybody for the invaluable advice both on and off forum. One thing I hadn't realised is how bad TVR (talcum) powder coating is! - still it's better to jump in with eyes wide open.

I'm very familiar with the NZ customs web site but I hadn't checked out the LTSA so thanks for that and also the NZ contacts which will prove extremely useful I suspect!

Cheers all

From a 60s Mustang to a Chimaera – that's my kind of thing ...

Best of luck JonoH
