Dear All

Im going to try and design a new CERBERA 2 in Alias as a project.
Does anyone have any chassis drawings to help me start this, Im not gona stick with the original dimensions, but want it as a comparison.
Im going to try and do a new 'MODULAR' chassis like the Lotus Elise etc, but first I need to model the original Cerbera.

Im hoping to stick very much with the design DNA of the original on the 'Evo' model, but making it up to date with current low volume chassis construction techniques

Please help

Here some sketches I did last night.
Im not sure these are the exact direction Ill take, but its a start.
For me the weight over the rear wheels is a bit weak on the original - I was developed from a Chimaera, and stretched and lowered, so thats the origin of this.

My Dilemma is push it more upmarket with a quality distiguished feel (ASTON), or keep the UPSTART Bad Boy Image....maybe mix the two....??
Anyhow, its at the information collection, recipy making, exploritory sketch phase.

I can now start the chassis model I suppose.

look at the weight over the rear wheelarch compared to my ifferings.

Its also slightly bigger on some proposals (in the rear headroom areaa, although not stretched).....yet
Model will reveal all.....later

[childish] Thomas Wanke hehe [/childish]

That sketch looks great. I like the silver line and the high wing mirrors. Not so sure about the rear lights though. Perhaps some sort of LED setup like the Tuscan2?

Ok Next request please
Iv been trying to find an image / blueprint of the Cerbera showing side / plan (top), and front and rear elevation drawings, but no luck, then I tried looking for photos....nothing?
Anyone got anything please (Original Cerbera).
I usually use www.the-blueprints.com, or www.suurland.com, but nowt there.
Maybe i'll update them with it once I have done something.

Every little helps, thanks in advance

Anyone got this -

Original Feature / roadtest article of the Cerbera (Autocar) 2005?
Purple First Cerbera on the cover as per Top Gerar Launch?
I think that artical will have a Cerbera Blueprint drawing in it, if you find / scan send, that would be magic.

My issue is well lost... gone to the great landfill in the sky.

Thanks is advance

Nick

Please don't keep the fugly new Beemer-type rear 'notch' in the above designs, as opposed to original Cerb curve. irked

Many thanks.

Also, (while I'm on hehe) by adding extra features to the body you are breaking up the outline of the car, and thus IMO detracting from the overall shape which contributes to it's beauty.

The wheels glare at you, are too overpowering, and thereby also detract from the generally pleasing form of the body shape, which should be the mainstay of the design.

Subtle is good, and that's what the original Cerb was/is, rather than brash.

You're welcome. smile

If you thing this stuff id wild, wait till you see the hand drawn sketches.
I dont think the sills are beemer, and maybe Im not sure about using them, I wanted to add drama without having the original 'stripe', but your coments are well recieved.
As you can see the silhouette is rather the same, which I will keep -(the saloon / hardtop look), small DLO (side glass), and cab rear, long hood look.
Thing is you cant keep it too much like the original, im not ino designing a classic, The original car was done in 1995!!
The wheels are off a recent Mazde concept car reworked to add drame and modernity, which I think it does look like.
Im tying to find how to capture and develop the DNA, not protect or nurture it.
If I go too far, its easy to come back, not as easy to look forward if you understand.

Anyhow, Thanks for the feedback, Ill try to scan the wild (in concept), not in looks stuff soon.
Im proposing that the whole lower bubble (body section is double bubble), is an add on, spaced off the body and incorporated into an undertray.

Hi Nick, didn't you design the original Cerb, and had a barny with a kid on YouTube about where you put the cigarette lighter?

Sorry but i just can't see how any of those alterations are an improvement over the clasically simple uncluttered and downright gorgeous original. Are you designing for the american market?

OK, my tuppence worth... I quite like the bottom design, apart from the following points...

Wheels look way too modern to me for a basically retro styled car. I'd stick with dished straight spoked wheels, although that's obviously an individual taste thing

I don't like the silver bits, looks liked they have been nicked off an R8. It doesn't need to try and take cue's from other cars, again, some others will like them.

High level wing mirrors. They look OK from the side, but I think it would look well odd from the front, like a cows ears. However, the Cerb was certainly "futuristic" in it's electronics, with odd buttons and so on, so maybe the wing mirrors could be replaced with a pair of rear bullet cams or something linked to screens inside the car. A nice widescreen with both wings and a rear view displayed? I doubt it's legal, but still...

Not sure about the high level lights, but as you say, if they're LED's they may look the nuts in the flesh.

I'd say keep the exterior clean. The changes you have made are pretty good, a bit like the smoothing out of the Jag XK. I'd then do a similar job on the interior, nice leathers and brushed ally, descrete buttons, nice TFT screen(s) for all internal systems (and rear view) and so on.

No, Im designing for ME!
I intend to keep the Silhouette and ad Drama.
The silver bit is maybe a bit much, but its intended to accentuate the LARGE DOOR.
Anyhow, I like the recent coment about bullet cams and interior screen.

Food for thought
