I remember hearing that this paint job isn't/wasn't cheap (30k?)

Im pretty sure it's candy apple red.. As with candy apple colours, they are extremly hard to spray right.

You can get similiar colours though.

Thats my car...!!!!!

Candy Apple Pearl Red, not cheap and TVR only ever used it on 3 show cars, closest match is Nightfire Red which is a lot cheaper to paint.

Cheers, the colour is a nightmare to photograph, I took some shots at Chatsworth and she was Tango orange on it.

It needs a respray now, full of stone chips but you cannot match the paint, it comes out black if you touch up the bits and a partial respray is not ideal either as it never blends in, hence why TVR never allowed anyone to order the colour. Cherry Red, Rosso Red and then Nightfire red were the alternatives.

Plus with mine, I would also have to paint the interior as it wouldnt match the exterior and that would annoy me....

Cant remember if Red Glow replaced Nightfire or the other way round.

My old Chim was Rosso Pearl but resprayed Red Glow Pearl following a scrape (on my profile, though not a good pic for seeing the colour properly). Red Glow is nowhere near as special as the old Rosso - none of the depth - but is less prone to fading. Given the choice again, I'd certainly have Rosso and accept a bit of fade. I reckon Rosso would be a better choice if you like Candy Apple.

I believe that TVR Candy Apple is actually of of the "Kandy" colours from US specialist paint manufacturer "House of Kolor". An early factory demo Griff was painted in this colour and speaking to Wheeler at the time he told me there were something like 30-35 layers of paint of the car each only slightly coloured which built up the depth of colour.

Although the paint is not that cheap, it's nothing like as expensive as some of the extravagant flip colours, but the cost is associated with the time taken to paint a car in Candy.

Also, Gaffer's right - you can't touch it up and you can't respray a panel or area of the car as it is all but impossible to match. This may well be something to do with both the difficulty of painting it in the first place and the colour maturing with age, I don't know...
