What's with the "Sold as seen with no warranty" BS? They're a car retail company and therefore have to offer a warranty with any sale to a member of the public don't they? They can't pull the old 'trade sale' crapola surely?

Other than that, looks nice. I much prefer the S1/2 interior to the later versions.

Cheers,
Rob

The interior reminds me of the old ACs for some reason.

Are they an everyday car? I'm used to Chimaera reliability but this may be a step too far? It's got a decent mileage on it.

Fernies did the same on another ad that was highlighted last week. I always thought the same as you, that any car bought from a dealer has a basic form of warranty as part of your statuatory rights.

I think they may do a sale or return system for private sellers - would that get them out of a warranty?

They have a very good reputation and I bought my Chim from them 4 years ago with a 2 year warranty (those were the days).

They seem to have two levels of cars for sale on their website which may reflect the warranty bit.

ETA - I think they give them a check over but limit the rest of it.

Seems a nice buy at £4500. I wonder if my wife wants to trade in her Mini?

Car in the ad looks good. I don't know if a dealer has to offer a warranty as mentioned above, but the car is priced as if it were a private sale which is fine - it's not as if they are trying to sell it at an inflated dealer price without the warranty. I expect it arrived as a trade in - ask the garage if they can put you in touch with the previous owner to check history, any current problems etc etc. Might be worth asking in the S Forum if anyone knows the car....?

My first TVR was an S2 which I used everyday for 5 years. Purchased with 50k on the clock, sold it with 92k on the clock and no problems other than routine/preventative maintenance in between.

Only sold it to get a Chimaera which was much more refined as an everyday car. However new commute to work meant something more economical was needed so sold that and got a Golf for work and another S2 for weekends biggrin

It wouldn't bother me using an S everyday again provided journey was reasonable wink

O/T

Am I the only one that thinks that Bee Gee Coachcraft Chim in the advert is on fire?

I wouldn't use any TVR as an everyday car, but recalling my move from S3 to Griffith, the Griffith felt and handled like one car while the S3 felt and handled like parts of several different cars. But Ss are pretty cars and certainly good fun for the money.

I used my old Chimaera every day. 5 fantastic years of driving.

I am not sure what you mean by feeling like parts of several cars!

I had a Griff 500 as my first TVR but had to sell it about a year ago so bought an S1.5 as a replacement.
I used both daily for a short commute to the station. I think the V6 cologne is MUCH more suited to the commuting than the big old Rover was. The S does feel a bit more like a kit car when it shakes and rattles over bumpy roads, but having said that the handling is loads of fun.
Reliability hasn't been a problem so far. (that's done it!)
S's are an absolute bargain at the moment IMHO and 'No' I'm not selling one smile

I used my S3 most days in all weather and never had any problems with it.

Used my other car for daily work purposes and thus keeping the insurance down on the tiv and would swap cars over to the tiv once I was home from work. I used it as a normal car, shopping, going to the stables etc.

Lack of power steering in a tight multi-story car park can be tricky biggrin
