Well today we took the Tuscan for its 6000 mile service ( kudos to TVR Power - very friendly and efficient service at sensible prices I may say!) Re the engine, TVR Power said the spark plugs were all a nice even biscuit brown which indicated good even running - cool!

So we borrowed their Chimaera for the day...

BIG MISTAKE!!!

I now realise that I want to sell the MINI and the MG and get myself a Chimaera! (Well it is bloody difficult prising the damn Tuscan keys out of J's hand when I want a blat in it!)

So back to the thread title - are we mad? We would end up with two TVRs and no other cars. Stuff like the cost of servicing etc and running costs are not really an issue cos we are just substituting the MINI and MG costs in effect.

They would both become daily cars (sometimes alternate daily cars but we would use them all the time is what I am trying to say). So I just wondered if anyone had any comments on whether this whole idea is just really silly or really cool?

ATM I am in the afterglow of V8 burble so I am leaning to really cool

Oi you lot! You're supposed to be the voice of reason and be talking us out of this!

Oh, hang on - maybe expecting sanity here is a bit too much.

But you're not helping!

It all makes perfect sense to me. A bit of a monster, for when you want a blast, and a Tuscan... no... I mean Chimaera... no... erm...

JUST DO IT!!

Well it sounds like you realy want to do it Ace-T and i think your misses will respect you and your decision but if i were you, trade in the bm and keep the MG, a proper classic and get your self a nice Chimp. Ive read about owners using there TVRs as there only car and have been as reliable as a borring mundaeo so on that not, get you calculator out and keep us informed with what you are going to do.
Good luck

Drop Bob the Planner a line. He is currently running a Tuscan and a Chimaera ()
I don't think he has any problems.

Judas,

Don't be silly - you should be revelling in the fact that your other half not only enjoys sharing your TVR, but wants one of her own! How cool is that!

Yeah, go for it! What have you got to lose, apart from money and sanity?

You can always go back to a Mini, or more likely, get one anyway, when the Chimaera's paid for

Thank you all for your support

Well I called and got a price from a local BMW dealer as to what they would give to buy the MINI from me. Obviously that is the absolute lowest it is worth. Now I know what that is, I can start working out what I could get either in p/x for a dealer Chim or sell/ buy privately.

I have a few dealer names but if anyone has got anybody they particularly recommend please let me know (or if you want to tell me to avoid anyone please mail me - please don't post on here or I will get locked in the Sin Bin I suspect!)

One thing though, I need to go into this with my eyees open. I will be doing lots of reading on the Chim forum and will be purchasing the "bible" and doing some test drives of other cars just to make sure I am making the right decision.

Does anyone have any other suggestions/comments about where I can go for info or point out what I have missed?

Any info gratefully received

PS Yes Raceboy we are going

You are not mad. Although when we considered running two Tivs we ended up with a Tiv and a Porker!

The Chimaera is a great car. Enjoy. And get the largest engine you can. We have a 450 and I still reckon we should have got the 500.
