first I have to say that I have loved the last 5 years owning the 2 x Chimaeras I've had, all in all 70k miles covered between the two models without a hitch, inc 2 x 2k mile round trips through europe, Peninsula in Devon have been more than efficient with all the servicing and upgrade needs, but alas it's time to move on to something with a little more luxury for those Europe trips, I have test driven the Tuscan and was dissapointed with noise and poise, Cerby I loved the drive but the roof thing is a problem, Tamora / T350T just does'nt do it visualy for me I'm afraid.

Soooo..... any thoughts within the 30 - 40k pound bracket that has:

A/c, elecy roof, min 0 - 100mph 14sec, bit of the old kudos but not to in yer face (Ferrari)

I have a list of Six so far to test drive over the next few months and they are:

SLK32 AMG
XKR Conv.
Z4 3.0i
Boxter 3.2
Corvette C5 conv.
M3 Conv.

Your input on this will be very helpfull as the Chimaera is going to be a real hard act to follow and I will really miss it when it goes.

Cheers, Nik

TVR - I hope you`re reading this thread. You have to bring out another soft top with a V8, no ifs or buts, just do it ok!

Well that's the late night porn out of the window I'll just look at your car instead !!

Put it as wallpaper on my computer to remind me why I am working about 60 a week.

Hope you don't mind.

No need to be sorry for the color m8, it's a lovely color (my other halfs TT is bright yellow), it's just I like something a little less attention grabbing, and I really would miss the top down as I already have other nice cars for tin top motoring, I must admit that is the best looking T350C I've seen tho, but when are TVR going to sort out there rear ends, no offencebut i like a nice Kylie on a car. mmmmm..... Kylie

Asking dedicated TVR fans for alternatives to TVRs? tut, tut.

Bad boy, wash your mouth out with soap

Alternatively, stick the same question on a non-TVR part of PH!

Personally, power-steering would be my idea of luxury

thanks to all for advice given, I have now test driven:

911 cabrio (like draggin a fat girls arse around, dull interior)

Boxter S (lovely car in and out but no oomph or sound track and saw 4 others on test drive)

M3 cabrio better than 911 handling not as sweet as boxter

XKR as said, good cruiser but no sports car

Ferrari 355 Broke down!!

and none made me feel special like the TVR and although I was'nt over impressed with my first test drive in a Tuscan, after taking out another (red rose) I am bowled over with TVR once again, I can't let reliability isues put me off after seeing what else is on offer, I am going to purchase one knowing I might/will have problems at some point, but I dont care, I would prefer 1 year of trouble with this car than 4 years trouble free motoring in one of these other so called enthusiasts cars, I feel they are dull and lifeless compared to the Tuscan.

So thanks again to everyones input, I'm off to join the Tuscaneers.....

blinding news that against all those competitors (including some that are twice the price when new) TVR still gets the vote.

Congrats.

Admit it, you like to live on the knife edge btween enjoyment and anxiety - that's what you get, in spades, with a TVR - it's part of what you are, and it fits your character, so relax into it. You're hooked!!
