Hi Everyone. I have just purchased a Tuscan Speed Six, and am looking for a competent TVR specialist in my region, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Today I put out some feelers, starting with the TVR main dealer. They quoted me £660 for a 6000 mile service. I do not think that I will be using them.
Can anyone recommend a specialist garage in my area whoi are familiar with the speed 6.
I also need a handbook, if anyone has a spare, or can tell me where I can get one, or even if one is available online somewhere.
A hearty Thank You to everyone who reads this.
Jonny.

Jonny

Nobody more competant in the North East than HHC, they know TVR's and the Speed 6 engine better than anyone in the region. They have a strong reputation in the North East TVRCC group and this has been well earned over many years.

Pop along to the next North East TVRCC meeting (Sunday 10th Aug at Whearsheaf Pub near the Airport from 12 noon...) and have a chat to the other Tuscan owners. Most use HHC including me, and no I'm not on commision but do get a good TVRCC discount.... but some use other garages and you'll be free from any PistonHeads name and shame rules too thumbup

Wherever you go servicing will not be cheap, so don't expect it to cost you pocket money.

Thanks Paul, But I cannot make the meeting at the Wheatchief, because I am going on Holiday the day before, but I will join the TVR Club and attend the next meeting.
Anyway Tim, How do you know how much pocket money my wife gives me? It might be enough!!!!!
I am banking on using it for only 5-6000 per year, including track days. I think that it is going to be an expensive hobby. I knew that I should have stuck with Sports Bikes.

Join the TVR car club for £40 or so... and not only will you get access to some great resources and meet good people... you'll also get 10% off your servicing costs with HHC should you change your mind.

Hi Jonny7,
I met a guy from your neck of the woods in Middlewich, Cheshire recently.
He drove down to RVT for his service as he said he cant get 6k service with valve check for any where near the 350 Ian charges.
Sorry cant help up in the North East but if your stuck, check Torque RVT's website.

Good luck,
Tony.

£400 is more the norm @6k from an indy. Try SSCC in Boroughbridge. Steve is ex main dealer and plenty of people in NY area speak highly of the service and only about 90 mins from N'castle.

Try Greenstar Sports cars in Blackpool. They currently have my Tuscan and have a really good service. I live in Scotland and they came and picked the car up just for cost of fuel and they are picking me up from the station on Friday when I go to pick it up then i'm driving to Newcastle for a night out before driving back up the following day! Prices are good as well and you do get to have fun driving your pride and joy back up the road.

Like Surveyor, I'm not on commission. I travel from Boroughbridge to Hexham to get my cars serviced. Its worth the journey.

Thought........

If you're starting to quibble about 200 pounds on your annual servicing (which should be more frequent if you're going to track it) I think you maybe bought the wrong car.

Good luck where ever you go, but with Hexham, luck plays much less of a factor in getting your car seviced properly.

clap You Lads are Brilliant. A Big 'Thank You' to each and every one of you. I look forward to meeting you all the the Next TVR Club meeting in Newcastle, but will be away for the August meeting.
I am not worried about £200 a year for servicing John. My every day car is expensive enough on that front, but I would be concerned if it reached £2000 per year for servicing and repairs.

It will reach quite close to £2000 a year if you do more than 4 or 5 track days and look after it properly. But it will be huge fun and I'm sure you'll think it's worth every penny.

Two services will run you quite close to 1800 with proper brake fluid changed at each service.

Tyres at 800 ish every 2 years.
Brakes every 2 years at 600 ish.

Thats without any repairs like engine mountings, radiators and foible sorting.

Out of interest, what is the everday mobile?
