Well, another dig at Smelly.

Do he and Oxley not realise that TVR will only ever be taken seriously again, if they fk off.

I disagree they'll be taken seriously when they start selling cars that don't go pop after 6 months and don't have Halfords accessories as standard

Hey come on, the 3 TVR's that I owned post-2004 were actually bloody good cars and didn't cause many problems at all. Admittedly, earlier one's that I had were (in some cases) problematic, but I think by the launch of the Tuscan 2 and Sagaris, the cars were miles better. Unless of course, you want to believe the stories that people who have not owned one tell youwink

As for Halfords accessories, can't really say that I've noticed anything from that particular superstore, maybe a bit of 'Ford' stuff here and there, but again, towards the end more and more stuff was TVR specific.

Referring back to my initial comment on the people that run the company, they have completely lost all credibility (if they ever had any). The whole of the British motoring press and most existing TVR owners see them as a joke and a bunch of clowns/liars/losers/con-men (delete as applicable), which, when you see the picture of them at the recent 're-launch', you can understand why. They looked like a bunch of gormless fools that had just completed a 'supermarket sweep' in Top Man.

If I listened to all the stories I'd never have had so much fun in two Fiat Coupe 20VTs and my current Cerb. Yes there are issues we all know about but there are good ones about and not everybody laughs at em - plus I like driving something different.

Just my 2ps worth!

I couldn't help but think of this;

The real alternative to what ?

Life on this planet as we know it ? hehe

At least the lib dem comedians can afford a tie.

One thing both groups have in common....never having to worry about delivering on their promises. smile

you started so well - but ruined it at the end.

you should have left it at "they'll be taken seriously when they start selling cars" - maybe adding the word "again" at the end. tongue out

Well..Top Gear obviously thought it warrantied a mention.

If they were that unconcerned and disinterested in TVR surely they wouldn't have bothered mentioning it at all??

And wasn't that Gumph thing (whatever it was called) ugly!!

Which makes me wonder why they won't have an Ultima on the program scratchchin when it's a third of the price (roughly) and far better looking....

How to kill a niche car company very quicky:

(in no particular order)

Adopt a slogan like 'Orgasmic Living'
Insist on using an engine that few people like or want
Put prices up and reliability down
Have no interest in the cars once they're out of the factory
Assume that loads of people will buy your cars
Issue press releases but never deliver

Bankrupt in no time, bingo!

I was at Brands Hatch last year doing a track day while Gumpart were doing a press day for the Apollo, I wasn't lucky enough to get a ride in it, but I was on the track with it, what a beast! The sound of those turbos was awesome, kind of breathless demonic growl as on top of the V8 noise, that blue monster was just carving its own sure footed path though the track day taffic like a knife though butter, very impressive.

As Richard Hamond said, the thing is designed to be a razor sharp track tool - function over style.

Especially when there's no chance of that Gumpert getting over a sleeping policeman.
That was the middle power version and it damned near wiped the floor on their track. Very impressive bit of kit and didn't look that ugly...imho
