Driving my other half from shop to shop, as I must, we got chatting about cars.
We are due to marry in May, so I was trying to lay down the law (doesn't work, does it?) about keeping my TVR. I have a Griff at the moment and I was musing about changing to a Cerbera.
I expected to get the usual face. But no, I was told I couldn't get rid of the Griff as I would no longer have an open top car - I'd have to get the Cerbera as well!
Strooth, to coin a phrase.

So, I was wondering if anyone else has had good/bad run-ins with their other halves when it comes to TVR ownership or related.

Good here, she loves it. And with the lid down! She has commented on this recently under Wedges somewhere.

My Missus encouraged me to buy the Griffith because she hated my Tasmin, berated me for buying a Cerbera because a)she missed the roof coming off and b)she thought the Cerbera was making me speed too much

Now she is all for me buying the Tamora because it's more like the old Griffith we had.

Good Girl!!!

Marriage, kids and all that – thought the TVR was never going to happen, had also always wanted a Yank car so got the Mussie – enjoyed it very much etc.

Driving past a garage one day – saw a 5.0l Chim, drooled a bit, the missus says, why don't you get one then?

Speechless! Jaw hits floor etc. Mind you, she is keen on the ol' cars but never thought she was that keen. She did once hire us one to go away for a weekend, so she knew what I really wanted.

Now the Mussie has gone etc, she's a bit apprehensive as she fears it'll cost a fortune in maintenance, insurance etc. I told her yes it does but it's bloody worth it and we ain't goin' back now!!

Had a bit of friction when I bought my Chim, the wifey wanted an Elise for herself, insisting one of us had to have a 'sensible car' for dump runs, granny runs etc.

In the end I bought mine, she now doesn't enjoy small or sports cars (feels unsafe), result = she buys a big eurobox. Problem solved!

Marvellous.

We are having the same dillema

Wedge vs Cerbera, Wedge vs Cerbera. We cannot afford both but we want both. Wedge for the roof down, Cerbera because of the looks etc - any ideas. When it was suggested that we get a Cerbera the betterhalf said no we cannot afford it, now when the subject comes up its when is it arriving...can't win but the wedge its part of the family sniff sniff...help!!!!

Whoo there Dave - were not all like that. You will find a majority the women with partners who feel the TVR is theirs would disagree with this - we (well I certainly do) enjoy it just as much as him in doors.

I'm sure that's true, but I've not met one yet.

So, "do you come here often?"

My other half liked my Cerbera so much so bought herself a Chim, and she is also up for a drive in my Superlight R on track days (particularly now she has some pixie boots in a flattering shade of blue of course)

Bought a Corrado VR6 a few years ago - grummble, grumble, too expensive, moan, groan, from the wife. So, net result? Divorced a few years later, brand new Chimp for my 40th. birthday present to myself, now in the process of being swapped for Tamora. Current girlfriend, love of my life, loved the Chimp, loves "razzing" i.e. going for serious roof-down action, loves getting a tan as a result, loves the speed, looks, general sense of well being when in the TVR, waves like mad at other TVR's. TOP WOMAN!!
