New Saggy technical changes?
Discussion
So, what's changed under the skin?
Anyone notice anything different about the car from a technical aspect?
From the pics I've noticed that the manifolds are now ceramic coated and the coolant reservoir and A/C evaporator have been re-located (the latter maybe just because it's LHD?). Why?
Did anyone notice any ABS/TC brake controllers under the bonnet or sensors on the hubs? These are off the shelf units these days and incorporate ABC, Traction/Stability Control and tire pressure monitoring etc all in one.
For those moaning about it being nothing new, the same formula of refining an existing design seems to have worked pretty well for Porsche.

No need to look at Porsche, TVR have been sucessfully refining the same design of chassis for fifty years and it's worked well for them; roughly a major revision every ten years: Grantura, Vixen, M, Tasmin, Griffith, (Cerbera,) T-chassis. So where are the new developments? Someone's nipped down the road to have the exhaust manifold coated and nipped into Halfords for five wheels on the way back?

As for all the development work they’ve supposedly been doing in the new barn – I’d take that with a pinch of salt..
- the rear exit exhausts,
- modified rear diffuser,
- conventional one piece bonnet,
- hinge system and release mechanism,
- and the revised centre console to house sat-nav
..were all done two years ago before the company went into administration!
as for the new wheels - the style could be worse, but aesthetically they look too big - they even manage to make the (large) front discs & calipers look slightly lost in there! plus there's the increased rotational mass and compromised ride.
the max power steering wheel isn't doing anything for me either...

But the big question I have to ask is what excatly is being done about meeting European emission rules? The 6 is a dirty ass engine and needs a fair amount to clean it up. Deinately going to meet future Euro V and I think would stuggle with III and IV.
How are they getting round that? Or is this a 6 month 10 car fizz out again?
Where's the update on the Ricardo engine development? How are they getting round that? Or is this a 6 month 10 car fizz out again?

I thought the SP6 was prety clean. Certainly with a bit less lift on overlap it could be even cleaner with only small sacrifices to top end power ? Would help the dreadfully poor midrange the SP6 is afflicted with anyway. Anyone know what the Ricardo mods were as mentioned above by JR ?
So, has nobody got anything more to add? I really am suprised that no one who was at the unveiling has said anything about the technical aspects of the car, other than one snippet about the new satnav, ipod screen thingy.
I would have thought all those attending would have been all over it and reporting back as a typical technically minded TVR owner would. In fact, there's been very little of substance said by those who attended.
Or are there a load of changes, but those who attended are sworn to secrecy?

No info blank out but Sprint intends to print a full tech spec in the next issue.I would have thought all those attending would have been all over it and reporting back as a typical technically minded TVR owner would. In fact, there's been very little of substance said by those who attended.

Full tech spec would be an interesting read. In the meantime could you give a concise list of the NEW TECHNOLOGY or CHANGES? (If any.)rev-erend said:
So - what was actually said about the Speed 6 at the talk.
I am struggling to understand what was said at all at the "launch", if anyone actually believes this was an attempt at one??If the object of the excercise was to inform people who have any interest in TVRs what is happening with TVR then they have failed miserably.
I have it on good authority that all the velcro will have a much higher hooks per sq inch ratio; that the self tappers will be a (slightly) finer, metric, thread (and they're burning the midnight oil to get them the right length too); and that all plywood fillets will be neatly sawn both ends rather than just snapped over knee in rough lengths. Which is all a shame, as the character will be completely destroyed

Excellent, then they are obviously back in business and I now know much more than last week

Aside from Ben Lang and David Oxley, you've got Jason Oxley and Dave Martin that I can identify in that pic. The others have also been involved with the previous incarnation of TVR as far as I'm aware too.
Also, as I understand things, a lot of the changes under the skin have involved making quality imrpovements, like proper ducting for the blowers under the dash, for example.
