Am I MAD - Norway / Sweden
Discussion
Trying to sort out my summer driving holiday. I'm now seriously thinking of driving from Bergen in South western Norway up the west coast to Hammerfast, the most northern town in the World above the Artic circle. Then coming back though Finmark Lapland and down the middle of Sweden. About 2500 miles in six days.
As the northern bit is classed as wilderness should be interesting in a Tuscan.
Cananyone give me details of likely road condition availiability of petrol and are the any Hotels up near Hammerfast and the North or will I need to camp. Also what is the Police attitude to speeding over there.
Whether I will actualy make it to the top I don't know yet but any usefull advice would be much appreciated. I bet there won't have been any Tuscans up there yet!

Hi Fish
dont know about Norway or Finland but i live in Sweden
expect good roads and light traffic , up in the north i think policing is quite light but they are bastads for speeding using Helicopters to track speeders in soome parts , from Stockholm down they really get serious about speeding , real serious and it will be an on the spot £100- fine althought once i was visiting Sweden from England and i got a ticket i had to take and pay at the post office , funny i lost it and did not know where to apply for a copy
Expect incredible scenery good roads and a hell of a lot of mosquitos that are very hungry

(Dredges up memories)
Had a family holiday in the early 70's, and
drove (dad, not me) up through Sweden, Finland,
around the North Cape (need a ferry to get there),
and then down the length of Norway.
The northern sections of roads were loose
surface all the way - I don't think tarmac
takes the winters very well - although this may
have changed in 30 years... A Scooby might be
more fun than a Tuscan.
Hope someone has more up-to-date info than me...
