Heading down to Southampton on Friday and I thought I'd pick up some Optimax before heading out of town. Who should I bump into at the Shell station than a yellow Chim 500 piloted by the Surry RO's. Strange coincidence you might think but to make matters worse they had their roof up! On a glorious late summer evening!

I was shocked and stunned. To distressed to type any more

I too am shocked.

But I have to report, I was in North Wales this weekend, and the couple of TVRs I saw also had the roofs up, it was not as if it was raining that heavily.

Even if it is raining, keeping up a good speed (careful now) makes the rain miss the cockpit. There really is no excuse...

I quite agree, anything over 50 and the rain just misses you, although when I had to stop on the M6 I did get some rain on my sun glasses

Sunday driving from Berks to East Midlands, I saw 2 Chim's with their roofs down, and at least 5 MX5's with their's up. Seems like they did not want to get their hair wet

Surely it would not matter to an MX5 owner as they are hairdressers?

Just took my roof off, because I don't want to be called a hairdresser, and I can't get the damn thing to stay on now!!! Thanks a lot!

I'm assuming that you did the sensible thing and tied it down. Therefore still no excuse

Of course I'll be rueing this when I get caught out in the rain and I'm asking for tips on how to dry out the interior of the car

appaling behaviour. have these people expelled from the club at once.

mind you - if you go too fast when it's raining, the water starts to climb the side windows, and splatters you from there!

Why would a Chim owner need tips on how to dry out the interiour of the car, they're always damp inside (from prev exp of course)

Then there was the funny story of one particular member here who got caught out on the drive home one day in the summer with the roof down. Started out from central london all nice and sunny only to get stuck in a storm in slow moving traffic whilst all the reps in there Mundane'o's were laughing at him until he could get off the fairly busy road to put the hood up !!

Farnham, Surrey to Rowberrow, Somerset recently by the A303 and Castle Carey (I know, but I forgot the shorter route). Only place it rained was in the 20mph limits through Shepton Mallet!!! - Streaky
