Hi folks,
I am in the process of having a purpose made rollbar fabricated for the Griff.
It will have the mount points for a 4 point harness.
I would like Yellow or black harnesses to suit interior/exterior.
Anyone any experience of suppliers etc, want to budget around £75/£100 per harness.
Cheers in advance..

I can now supply either Cobra or Willans harnesses, and if required they can be made to custom lengths.
are you using them as well as or instead of the normal saftey belts? I think its a bit unclear on the requirements..( for mot etc you may need to leave the originals in place, which to be honest for popping to the shops is a good idea any way)
The cobra ones have normal seat belt type clunk-click releases, which are e-marked and are allowable for mot etc...
Willans have 2 ranges one with e-marked clunk click releases and one with proper race type fixings.
Cobra are cheaper and certainly do yellow !!! willans have more of a range and wider belts..
drop me a mail if you want to discuss
cheers

Thanks for input guys,
Will have a look at all options.
This should be the finished article Dumbfunk...

What are the requirements to removing the original belts, to be honest they are crap.
Many a time my OH has been slowly throttled by the belt not releasing especially when on a slope..

My Griff had 4pt harnesses in when I bought it and I used it like that for a little while until good sense prevailed and in the absence of a roll bar I reverted back to the standard belts. In that time I had the car MOT'd twice with no issues. My belts were Willans and were not E-marked. So, if you get it tested somewhere sensible (i.e. used to TVRs and performance cars) then there shouldn't be any problems - insurance I don't know about but presumably you need to declare the bar anyway right?
Can you tell me - with the seats in their normal position does the Bar sit near to your head? That's what I always hated about the factory bar but being tall the RollCentre bar looked a little low and too far inboard for my liking either. This could be a great solution.

How are you getting on with the rollbar..?
Knew it had to be someones on here..

the problem for me was sliding around in the seat when cornering,i was going to change the seats, but when i saw jeffsy at rockingham i thought his roll bar looked the nuts,(colour aside).
being hoops there is no rear vision problems,i had the bar made and left bare steel so i could weld on the eye/hooks to enable the harness to be fitted. i got some body colour paint and sprayed it up
at work, and fitted it myself, mine is also slightly different from the original as i didn't want a diagonal in the hoop bit as i thought it looked a bit too busy,(less is more).
it stiffened up the chassis a lot so i had to soften the dampers,my brother has a chimaera and we fitted his one last weekend,(viper blue car) so he went for a bright silver rollbar with blue harnesses, end result looks fantastic he and i are over the moon with how they look!!
fitting is fun!! so give me a ring for some pointers when your ready to fit it.
ps everyone who has seen it seems to approve,it looks every bit like it was always there,
good side impact protection, but probably not that good if you rolled the car as they sit lower than your head unless your only 4' tall.
but it gets 10/10 from me for looks and its better than nothing!
Superb...
Am pleased I went for this one then as the general feedback is very good.
Tim, I will pm you when it arrives if thats ok, I have a friend with a Chim that was an aircraft tech and he is going to take a look but any pointers would really help... thanks.
I think this rollbar looks like its an original fit because it really suits the cars lines etc (griff and chim).
Chimjunkie, glad to hear your back on the road. Did you have a bad accident..?
Df, I have'nt got my bar yet but tbd reckons its the mutts maybe he could shed some light with reference to your questions..
Thanks guys..

Nothing too serious. Head-on into a range rovers front wheel at 20 mph! These cars are amazing in a front end collision. The fibreglass does a superb job of absorbing the energy. No chassis damage, but written off due to repair costs of new fibreglass front end and cooling system. Gsw500

Always wanted a roll bar as a piece of mind, but the added side impact protection and chassis stiffening are a big plus!
Jon.
Hi Jon,
Thanks.. although its not such a big hit with the purists... hey ho..!!
At least I can see where I'm heading for at night at a decent amount of leptons..
I've spun the griff once in an evasive manouvre after nearly stuffing it into the back of a fezza 348, the brakes went hydroscopic..
so nearly found out how strong they are...!!
Previous owner had work done which included blended rear lights.
I woul'nt mind changing the lower driving/high beam lights to the 5" same as ones above to match up.
I think the upgraded lights look cool on the chim too.
The TVR cars were left wide open for improvements/ mods etc. IMHO.

hi gary, just looked at your profile, great front lights,i didn't have the bottle to go for them,i just upgraded to 7" lights under standard covers,i am not a purist but like the original look of the perspex covers (ferrari 250 gt/e-type)always loved that look, but yours do look great!
i didn't have the bottle for yellow either, but in my opinion the best colour for a griff.
which leads me to the big question, what colour are you going for on the rollbar ?
seen a yellow bar on a yellow chim, didn't look good at all, but your choice of course!
if i were you try and experiment with a few options in the car,
yellow
black
silver
chrome
all down to personal taste a the end of the day but i was just curious!
cheers

Hi Tim,
I'm going for a black bar as I have a full black interior.
Thought it would look nice with black harnesses with maybe a touch of yellow in them.
Think I,ve seen either the cobra or ricos in this combination but still searching..
Yellow bar on yellow would be too much so staying clear of that, I want the bar to be seen but it should really look like it is/was part of the car when it rolled out of Bristol Ave and not billy bolted on after.. IMHO.
Don't think the chrome option would work very well either as not much on the car to match up.. maybe I should of had one made in aluminium to go with the Leven bits..
