When my capri was laid up for four years I just took off the wheels and cut four circles out of a sheet of 3/4" ply with a jigsaw tied to a nail in the middle of the circle, drilled out the centre and stud holes and bolted them on.
That way the car is still mobile enough to move if needed, you know your wife will need something from the cupboard that you wedged the car up against and immobilised 3 days earlier
.There`s none of the hassle of jacking it up and removing/replacing axle stands, wheels etc.
and they are far cheaper and more convienient to store than four replacement wheels /tyres.
Also if you have to leave it outside on your drive then no bugger will nick it!
We have used this method in the workshop, handy for working on body work round the arches with out a big wheel and tyre in the way, unfortunately some cars have calipers that stick out further than the hub face so it wont work on everything.
i used to have a griffith but then i built an ultima gtr, and you can't really get anything jack-wise under it in a single garage, so i had to store it on stands for 3 months over the winter at a friend's commercial garage last year. these tyre shoes seem a logical solution and viable option to axle stands, though there is a slight width overhang. i was just interested whether anyone had used and rated them, and the tvr list has by far the largest traffic.
