Newbie - wants a Chimaera and looking for tips to buy..
Discussion
Hi all, I am green to the tvr scene. I have given up chasing a lotus elise as my fun sun car and am now set on a Chimaera. So I have no idea where to start when checking them out but I hear there are some real nightmare stories out there.
Any advice from owners on buying or potential sales - around 8k

Simon,
Get yourself a copy of Steve Heaths bible. "The book" to own for any buyer and owner.
Read it from cover to cover twice before you look at any cars. Then if you are a reasonably mechanically minded go and look at plenty of cars before you make any sort of commitment.
Look very carefully at the chassis, the out riggers in particular. Go on condition and history, if the car doesn't look quite right then it probably isn't so walk away. Look for loads of bills all in chronological order with MOT's, the usual stuff. Don't get carried away with the TVR noise and presence, buy the right car and you'll be chuffed to bits, but buy the wrong one you'll need very deep pockets. Above all use your common sense and get yourself into the magic world of TVR ownership.
Good luck in your hunt.
Paul.
Ps, I looked at 14 cars before I found the right one. so be patient.
