I am in the process of fitting cerbera seats into my Griff. Is it absolutely necessary to transfer the box section onto the cerb seats as detailed in the seat installation guide on the Griffith pages?
It seems to me as this is where most of the extra height comes from.

It'd be worth getting input from somebody who's done it, but after removing and refitting my Griff seats, I seem to remember the purpose of the box section, as much as anything, was to shift the bolts through the floor pan behind the middle outrigger, so they're accessible?

From memory isn't there a strengthening section in the floor underneath the seat? I think the box section lifts the seats to clear this.

Yep, just checked my photos.
You can see it next to the washers on the left (front of the seat)

They also serve to relocate the bolts from the end of the seat back to the original holes.

The spacer isn't really your problem though. Your height is dictated by the part of your body which is sat in the back of the seat, so trying to recover a couple of mm from the front end underneath your thighs isn't really going to achieve much.

Why are you worried about it? I have less than enough space to get my fingers between my head and the roof and its rarely a problem

The reason for concern is when I wear my helmet with the original seats I already have limited head space,so with the cerbera seats I will not have enough room.

probably should have considered that first then......... anyhoo, you can fit it without the box, just run the bolt through the runner instead. :-)

All is not lost. I have thought this through a lot ,just thought removing the box sections would be an easy option. The seats are now fitted.
I have a spare targa panel which I am going to put a bulge in like on the sagaris. This way I can keep the original for road and the customized one for track.
clap
Thanks for the replies

Thought it was only the T350's that had that?

Get yourself some of the Evostick Adhesive Remover - its by far the best stuff for getting the glue under the fabric off.
I also found a stanley knife blade held vertically and scraped over the roof does a great job after you've applied a liberal dosing of the above.

Its a horrible job and takes ages - well, it took me 2 days this weekend.

I started removing the old adhesive under the roof like that... Awful. Got the sandpaper out and just sanded the adhesive off in the end, it also keyed the roof at the same time. Just gave it a finishing wipe with adhesive remover and job's a good 'un biggrin

No squabs in my seats.
I did fit the seats without the box sections and found my legs where tipped forward making an uncomfortable driving position,I think it would give me back ache if driven for a long period. So back with the original plan, the cloth is now off the targa panel and I am about to attack it with a cutter!
