Any opinions as to the best trickle charger on the market ? Preferably one that doesn't involve a double hernia connecting it to the terminals...

I have been using an Airflow Battery Conditioner connected to my TVR S2 for about two years and it works fine. The battery is always fully charged, so no problems caused by lack of use or leaving the alarm on. http://www.racecar.co.uk/airflow/battery.html You will need to buy the connector cable kit to permanently wire to the battery. This gives you a small connector plug which you can hide under/on/in the car for easy connection (luckily, I have a mains supply on the wall nearest the battery). There are a couple of other devices on the market that do a similar job.

Thanks, will have a look at it. Any idea if you could rewire it to feed thru the cigarette lighter ? I believe some of the systems on the market work this way ??

I bought both a solar trickle charger and a cig lighter to lighter starter from one of those innovations type mags, Both work really well. The solar charger even kept the battery topped up when the car was in a garage(near a window) for 2 weeks.

Ctek.

Tried cheaper ones, they work. But the advantage of the cteks are-

-Goes back to the same charge mode when power is reconnected. Less faffing when reconnecting regularly and of your garage has a power cut etc.

-lots of available accessories. Means you get a neater installation inside the car, and/or have multiple sockets under the bonnet, in the cabin/boot etc.

-tried and tested.

I strongly suspect that after 19 years the OP would have found a solution by now

I agree that was one mighty thread revival.

Just for the record I have a ctek and a maypole and am pleased with both of them.

It's all very interesting though

Ctek didn't get a mention in the year 2000
