Hi guys,

just testing the water to see what the demand for Carbon fibre parts for TVRs is. I have a supplier who can make the parts/door cards/dash paels etc, i just need to get enough interested parties to make it cost effective. So if your interested give me a pm. I have a 400 Chimerea, so the first lot would be for this model. cheers

I think I'd like the looks of a dash panel etc in CF for my 500 Griff.

Chimjunkie had made some cracking carbon door cards, and loads of other interior bits, can't find the pics but they looked stunning and I'd guess there would definatly be a market for some of the bits. yes

Probably a good idea to search out these companies and see what prices they are charging and then see if you can match them with the tooling cost you are going to have, bit pointless otherwise IMHO.

Sorry if im stating the obvious.

To be fair the way I read it the OP was looking at making Chimaera interior bits, and both the other links are to mainly performance/under bonnet bits, so I'd say theres room in the market place for one more. wink

yep. intetior parts only. dash, door cards, centre console, the bit behind the steering wheel etc. they have said they could subsidise the tooling, so i just wanted to see what you guys thought. i would needs other model parts for the tooling/molds, if not at least a template. i am going over to them next week with some bits to show them, so will have a rough price by then. thanks for the response.

Found some of Chimjunkies pics, hope he doesn't mind me popping them in here.....

Interior centre bit...

Door card and friend.....

Things like this I think would sell, depending on the price point, I think they lift the interior to something much more modern. yes

No probs Raceboy! The bit in the middle should read "Door card and only friend" though biggrin I decided to make my own parts because nobody else makes them for the Chimaera. They really do modernise the interior, but not to everybodys taste. I have the moulds for both the lower dash and centre console. These were made for my car as a one off project but could be used to make further units. I would only be able to make the occasional unit and with a lead time of around a month or two. Cant offer a proper business service. Self employed builder and father does the carbon work. He is not that well anymore and work is more a hobby for him now. The moulds did take quite a bit of work, but worth it in my opinion. Car feels very different inside.

JohnBear, Yes they are Lotus seats. Need retrimming to make more comfortable though. Unless you fit probax ones.

Jon.

Certainly look like Elise seats, remember them well. Phrases often used were:- ouch, bang, crunch, sore, painfull, bang, want to get home, st another pothole.

i.e not comfy at all! The VX220 ones were far better in my opinion. Softer ride from a Chim may make them just about bareable..........but maybe not on one of your hoon's John! thumbup

Off topic: As I said above, you would want to retrim these with more base support. The std lotus foam is total scensoredte the VX220 seats look like the same frame as the lotus ones but with much plusher trim on the base. The seats i fitted were bought very cheap to proof test the installation. I have not decided whether to retrim or install or buy Probax lotus seats... Not many options for seats in these cars. Thought i would be different. Look good in the flesh too.

They look brilliant! Especially the centre console!

I am torn between wanting to keep the cerb original and wanting to update it.
