How long do I need to disconnect the ECU for in order for it to reset itself?

Agreed.. just take the big plug off the ECU and count to 30 .. and reconnect the plug.

Hmm, buggar. I had the speed sensor replaced as the speedo had stopped working intermittently, causing it to stall at junctions (idle). Speedo now works but still stalling so i figured resetting the ECU would sort it, but it hasn't.

Any ideas? It doesn't splutter, just cuts out when the clutch is dipped.

My money would be on the throttle pots needing sycronising.. I think this is done electronically in the S6 engined cars and manually on the Cerb.

Sorry just taken a look and see you have chim .. so the problem will probably be with the stepper motor..

Do a search - it's been covered regularly.

The speedo will not affect the stalling at idle, its purely for informational purposes only and the ECU doesn`t care much about its value...

Like other's have said I would get the throttles bodies sorted.
