I've posted this on the Cerbie forum, but thought it may be as well to ask here too.

I leave Cerbie on trickle charge all the time. I used her yesterday, no problem at all. When I got home, I couldn't release the bonnet lock (there is some resistance but it continually turns so I assume something may have come loose).

So, I thought I'd drive her today to keep the battery charged, but there is very little go in it - turns over but does not start.

I've opened both windows to allow access to the car.

If I can open the bonnet I can charge her up, or if there is another way to charge her up I can drive her to a garage on Saturday.

Any ideas (bearing in mind I'm no mechanic!). Many thanks, Dave

Hi Dave
There is an allen headed screw holding the bonnet release knob on the shaft, I should imagine this is loose and allowing the knob to spin on the shaft.

Thank you very much, I'll nip out and have a look.

Strangely, I bought a couple of sets of allen keys yesterday which is really odd for me...

Can't believe it, wrote a long story about today and the pc crashed. Mind you, maybe I should have known...

Just coming home from work (150 mile round trip), tyre belew out on the MG. Was lucky as going quite slow and only 0.5 miles from home. My mother came out of hospital after 6 weeks yesterday and needs support, so I thought I'd better walk round and change the tyre later. Got home a little later and a friend had come round to help with the cerb and the bike (have to dismantle the damn thing to get at the battery).

So, we decide to collect the MG. Tyre change is quick, original tyre torn on the inside and useless. Then his car won't start.

We leave it there and return to my house. An hour and a half later, the allen bolt is removed (many, many thanks to those that gave me advice). Once removed, the bonnet opens and she is now on full charge. We go back to his car which starts first time!

So, MG with space saver on, 4-5 inch crack in windscreen from Friday (new one to be fitted Friday), Cerbie bonnet open and charging, Suzuki not touched, dinner cold, mother safely tucked up.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring... smile

MG not starting then does later - duff alternator? You'd run down the battery as it wasn't charging, but it had recovered enough after a while to start and run for a bit?

Hi Byker, yes I think you may be right with that. Oh well, at least it meant I got to do 150 miles today's in the wife's Ka. Oh, after I'd blown the damn tyres up on the back smile

woohoo

Got cerbie back together, battery on proper charge. But, raiod is asking me for a code and she isn't firing at all. I assume a fuse may have gone on the starter so that's tomorrow's job.

Dismantled the bike, was easy really and she's on charge.

All is well in the world again (even fixed the outside light too).
