Hi fellow PHers,

A favour to ask.

I am helping to organise our children's School Summer Fair and put up a request on PH for ideas for the Fair http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... .

One the suggestions was to ask if a fellow PH could or would be willing to lend their TVR/Ferrari/Lambo (in fact any Sports Car!) etc as an attraction.

i.e. fill car with balloons and a fund raising competition to guess the number of ballons and the winner perhaps gets a ride round the block at the end of the day.

The school is in Gillingham, Dorset and the date of the fair is Saturday 21st June in the afternoon - approx 2-5pm ish.

I know I'm asking a big favour. I'd be very happy to pay any fuel costs to get to Gillingham and to cover a quick ride around the block and your car would be fenced off so that nobody has the chance to injure your pride and joy. I'll also keep you topped up with coffee and hotdogs as appropriate!

I happen to work for a well known Software Company and I'd happily sort out some nice creative software as a thank you (out of my pocket, not the company's)...you would also have the deep inner feeling of joy to see lots of primary school kids cooing at your motor!

Another thought is if people would just like to come over for the afternoon and simply show their cars and or let the odd child have sit in for 50p etc? I guess 10 or 15 would be magical... But maybe that's asking too much.

Anyone feeling generous or could/would be willing to help out?

Many, many thanks.

Jamie

has nobody put themselves forward yet? - if not I'll be happy to turn up, if you get a better offer don't worry about taking it.

Ping me an email - I'll put the date in the diary

Why stop at one?

You've still got a fair time to go, why not see how many you can get?
How many turned up for the wedding last year?

A sunny(!) day in June, a good blast out, a worthy cause, hotdogs? wink

I'm in!

Hi Guys,

I think I'll have to remortgage the house if I have to pay the fuel bills of 100 TVR's turning up!

I know it's a big ask and I'd certainly understand if people have better things to do with their Saturday afternoons!!

Without being a nobber, I think I should have caveated the fuel thing!!

If you 2 are serious, I'll ping you both PM. Thanks a million.. Jamie

Why not just change the offer slightly to fit the circumstances? The balloon car will have to arrive early and leave late etc. so give them the fuel offer and make it a rare car like the Speed 12 or the SE AC racer. This car could be in the middle of a display of 12 to 20 cars, the owners of which will be offered free tea and biscuits. Could be a good day out for all.

JR - That's a very good idea - If people would be happy to go along with that, I'd be very, very grateful.

I've just spoken the Mrs, the time of the fair is 2pm to 5pm.

Who mentioned fuel? wink

It'll be a good laugh, and a chance to blow the cobwebs off for a good cause - I don't think many will take you to task for a few quid in petrol!

Fair play for organising it beer

Im doing something similar in June for our local carnival, we get to join the parade down the high street, rev the engines at will and generally try and be louder than the marching bands ;-) I got about 5 definates plus 3 or 4 maybes already which should be fun. I think the offer of free bacon sarnies and tea/coffee for breakfast helped !

We usually have an F1 car from the Honda F1 HQ in town(or at least a very good mock up) turn up (doesnt drive of course) , hoping it will be the same this year, just got to check with the organisers and then plead for our parking spot to be next to it !

The reason for my post ? Just to say what a great bunch we have on PH ... also a lot of show offs hehe

And I also have to work out some way of knocking up a big PH thingy, maybe just buy a flag and use that together with the TVR and Union Jack flags .
