No, JT not pathetic - a point of view.
How the region expects to gain new members when their only experience is a load of ws full of their own self importance is beyond me.
My preference is for real people, who don't alienate others. In other words - Pistonheaders.
This point has been raised by on many occasion but to no avail, they think it's just me because I raised the point directly but as these most recent local posts show it's a regional problem. Problem is they don't want to move on, they much prefer it as a social club orientated around the older member with the same hardcore three or four cars turning up time after time, given the amount of TVRs in the area and now a main dealer to boot this is quite shocking.
The answer, there is no perfect answer but this region could support an alternative medium for TVR owners, possibly web based with no subscrption/commitment, no pecking order just likeminded people getting out in their cars for runs and events as and when they want to.
Sometimes there is nothing worse than a short run to pub where people sit down for three hours and short run back always at peak time of the day, if some runs were timed better you could still achieve something else with your day off, for people not using it as a social medium it's an tiring experience on occasion.
Perhaps a Pistonheads or Yahoo based calling tower???
Just a thought.....

From the personal point of view I think it would be ideal to have a mixture of events - the pleasure of owning a sports car is in the driving but you can be sociable as well (there's nothing worse than heavy traffic though when your trying to get a move on! - that why in Summer you'll find me on my Honday Pan European a lot)

I see from your previous reply that you have in fact NEVER been to a D&C meet but yet you are quick to draw a point of view, strange. As for calling members w
these are people who you have never met or are likely to, so please don't insult decent people who I would call my friends.Whilst I am here, Corin you are right a few cars DO turn up for every meet because some of us want the club to be a success for people who are not able to take part due to work or other commitments like you said your self. This is called dedication and sometimes keep being knocked for it gets a bit tedious so please if you don't have anything good to say about people because I believe this is the real issue then please refrain.Thanks. >> Edited by just trouble on Thursday 31st July 09:58
Ahh, JT that is where you are wrong. I have met lots of fellow TVR owners both in and out of the TVRCC (Of which I am a member). Most of whom didn't behave like they were better than me. I was considering coming along to a meet of the region - I believe we should support the club. However, after seeing and hearing how members of the region behave - no thanks!
In fact you could say I have been to a meeting - Peninsula open day. I was just put off the whole idea of going to a meet. How many other owners/potential owners were similarly put off?
The point is made well by Corin, perhaps we don't want to drive to a country pub and sit for 3 hours discussing TVR's - I went for a drive to north Devon last Bank Holiday and saw 3 other TVR's all waved/flashed their lights. All no doubt doing what I was doing - enjoying driving my car. It's a pity we can't do it together.
I get the distinct impression from the tone of your last post that I would be unwelcome at a meet now anyway. All I did was express an opinion contrary to your own. If I think someone is a
and you consider them friends, then that is both our rights. The world would be a very boring place if everyone liked exactly the same things.
Climbs off soapbox.

Nail hit firmly on the head in many respects.
I have no intention of reigniting this whole debate once more. Unfortunately (or indeed perhaps fortunately) it always hits the proverbial brickwall and brings nothing but short sighted, aggressive defence from those who ARE happy with THEIR club.
If one good thing has come from this thread, it's that there are indeed others who feel the same about the D&C region. Not that i'm surprised.
There are blatantly a huge number of local TVR drivers who simply have or will never go to a club event - why when it's supposedly so good?

You miss the point. I have to physicaly meet someone and engage with them so that I may form an opinion of them and them of me to determin if they are a friend or as you put it a w
People with or without a TVR are always made welcome by D&C members so please don't be put off by ANY comments on PH. Why not try it you might be pleasantly suprised.

Nick go to the bathroom, look in the mirror and have a good word with yourself! You have on more than one occasion slated me for having the nerve to stand up to the club in it's current form, I have never knocked you for dedication, the truth is you can't handle the truth.
P.S....... read over the last couple of regional threads, the only two hardcore members of D&C TVRCC contributing have offered no genuine advice or contribution other than look at the site. The site offer no advice on servicing reports, running costs or insurance so how will is that going to help someone??

On this basis then , you cannot say for instance, if you like Tony Blair, IDS or Charles Kennedy because you have never engaged them in conversation? I can form an opinion because I have heard them speak and interact with others, the same as I did at Peninsula that day.
I have no problem if the region want to persue their current format, I just can't see anything other than a slow death for the regional club - a crying shame when there are clearly 'loads' of TVR's about.

I think to call them all a bunch of ******* would be a little strong, the only meet I attended down at the halfway house back when I had the Chimaera there seemed to be a lot of people not unlike myself, who chose to take advantage of the good weather and a club outing, I missed the run due to my nephews confirmation but made my way down as and when I could, there was a good turn out but people weren't interacting, folks seemed left out in the cold, there were a select few gathered but I soon got put off as one made himself centre of all ceremonies, you know the type mid forties, collar turned up, either a has-been or a wannabe, certainly not in between.
I chose my moment and left.
