have tried searching doesnt seem to come up with it.

does anyone know the correct ignition timing for a chimera 400HC?

It depends on various things, but typically somewhere in the region of 10-12 degrees static plus 20 degrees of mechanical advance.

my car is in for a service, and the mechanic says the timing shows as 2 deg retarded, he thinks it should be set at 5 det BTDC done with a timing light?

Before relying on the time marks on a TVR RV8 make sure you are happy they are accurate, it wouldn't be the first time they tell lies.
Each engine is different but anywhere from 26-32 degs of total advance is the right area for power.
