Recovering from an operation has given me far too much time to consider a weekend toy but after reading throgh hundreds of threads I'm more confsed than ever (although it might just be the anesthetic).

My current M3 is a superb car but just too efficient with little sense of occasion and spends most of it's time doing a 10 mile round trip commute which is a bit of a waste. Luckily I am finally in the position to have a cheap station car and a weekend toy, but what should I buy? My short list and thoughts are as follows:

Tuscan (mk1): Love the looks and targa arrangement but doesn't feel as cohesive to drive as the T350.

T350t: Again I love the looks and the driving experience but will I miss the more complete open air motoring?

Tamora: Would appear to be the perfect solution but I haven't had a chance to drive one, where are all the ones for sale in Surrey? I narrowly missed out on one in January that was for sale at Racing Green but a lucky P'Her pipped me to it (hope your enjoying it!).

Tuscan (mk2): Latest consideration, but do they warrant the extra cost over the mk1.

Exige/111r: Wrong forum I know but would be glad to hear of any experiences. These would seem to be the more sensible option (cheaper running costs) but no 4 pot can compete with a straight 6 and I need you guys to talk me out of it.

Any other suggestions gratefully received but it needs to be able to survive outside under a cover.

Which of the above is going to make me get up early on Sunday to go for a drive?

Thanks,
Jay.

No mention of V8's. Ever thought of the Chimaera or Griffith. I jumped from a Jag XJR to a Chimaera 450 and I LOVE IT!

I agree with the above.....

If its a car for special occasions that will stay in the garage on rainy days then why do you need one with a roof?

I had a Chimera 500 a couple years ago and really liked it but found it slighlty agricultural at times and I now feel it's time to try one of the newer generation cars with the straight six.

Sounds like I need to try and find a Tamora to test.

Thanks guys.

I have an M3 for family trips and if it is raining. Also a Griff. Agricultural it aint! TVRs are all nice. I wouldn't strike the Griff/Chim off your list.

I've had a Chim and now a Tamora, and I know what you mean. Don't think you will be dissapointed by the handling of the Tamora, or the performance.

I love the Cerbera but I'm after a removable roof of some description, even if it is only the targa panels of a T350. Then again, anyone know of a targa conversion for the Cerb and any advice avoiding the roll cage? I always manage to clout my head and I know that there are much taller drivers (6'2&quotwink out there.

Griff/Chim's are still in the running, I enjoyed my previous ownership but I would like to own a newer TVR before they get too old.

The search for a Tamora continues.
