Also fitted the startermotor heat shield & while i was at it hammerited the front wishbones.... so if you see someone walking around with cut, burnt, bruised arms covered in white paint its me!!!

I've just fitted their telescopic bonnet stay. It's a very simple, but effective, idea and certainly a vast improvement over the original!

I have the 2 stage cooling which brings in half speed fans...no problem in winter and autumn but in the recent heat we had i found that the car was nearing 100 degrees in very heavy traffic in the middle of the summer heat (full fans would come on but very late)... David sent me an adjustable stat which brings on the full fans much more consistently and earlier...much better!

ok, I recently fitted the adjustable stat which took all of 3 minutes and car now doesn't go above 90degrees (it kicks in around 88 degrees), and the half speeds kick in at 80 which I find ideal... top products from a bloke who genuinely cars about his customers. Another gold star from me!

Am thinking of buying either the Mod-wise 2 stage fan kit, or the basic fan overide switch...how easy was the kit to fit (I assume you need to insert some form of sensor into the rad/hose?) Paul.

Fitting is easy, everything comes preassembled. My grandmother could have fitted it, unfortunatley she isn't alive anymore. Would have loved the Griffith though.

two torpedo shapped copper sensors (about 1/2 the size of a pencil) are strapped onto the bottom hose which is the return hose from rad,a bit of insulated wrapping & Just 2 straps onto a flatish section, and a few elecrical connectors. call David he will explain and is very helpful...

I have fitted my 2-stage fan kit - all ok
(thanks David for your help and advice), but was wondering what control box settings you've used. In today's heat, I found the slow speed cut in a bit early and I was not even in traffic (around 70 on the car's temp gauge) and the high speed cut in around 75. I think my original fan used to cut in around 90. I have adjusted both so the slow cuts in at approx 75 with the high speed cutting in at 83-ish. Suggestions / comments would be welcome.

I think you will be suprised at what temps David has got his set to !

Mine is being fitted today, I've seen various recommendations but I'm going for 65 for half speed & 75 full speed with the sensors fitted to the radiator outlet pipe (bottom hose).

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in traffic in order to enjoy it

65 is close to 60, which is offically known as 'hand hot'. Sure you're not overdoing this cooling business? Your engine will get frostbite!

Edit to say, these temps are after the rad and external on the hose, but with a thermal wrap around the sensors.

It takes a few "twiddles" to get it right, different water stats, sensing points and "air splitter" fitted or not. You wont be able to over cool or get it too high, original otter will over ride.In the summer we wish we could over cool!In the winter maybe, in which case it wont be the fans,as they will not come on. If you have one of these cold stats, after start up, within 10 mins it will be open all the time and so the input to the rad will be always be at least say 74 and the outlet temp will depend on your speed. After all, the sensors are sensing the cooling effect your forward movement is having(the otter switch does this somewhat later).Slower speeds, less effect and the need for "assistance". In fact on a normal car,the fans are spinning when moving, just not increasing air flow. Some people have half speed all the time, well from Spring until Autumn!

Simpo - as David has since explained, my settings are based on the coolant temp after it has passed through the radiator.

Having the half speed fans on 'early' (65) and the full speed as coolant temp builds (75) should help prevent heat build up under the bonnet, but (hopefully) not prevent the car hitting it's 88-92 optimum temp.

If it does, I'll adjust the temps upwards.

I played around with my temp settings the other day ready for Spain - I just went off my main temperature gauge reading and with a bit of fiddling now have the half speed cut in at 80 and the full speed about 87 - as I heard somewhere that the optimal running temp was 90 degrees?

However, as David said, there are a lot of external factors, so the actual temp marks on the 2-stage unit itself may be of little help. I ran the engine until it reached 80 then adjusted the half speed knob until the fans came on, then the same for full speed. Now I have the temps set, I have put a couple of paint marks so I can keep them lined up.

Only thing I need now is some heat shield tape to wrap the unit in as I think the plastic may start to warp in the heat!!!

Like everyone says though - top piece of kit David

My 1/2 speeds are coming on at 75, full at 85, well thats what the TVR gauge is telling me! i would've thought this about correct as the switch setting are 60 and 70 hence 15 deg difference for rad exit temperature. I will probably move the 1/2 speeds down 5 or 10 with this weather in an effort to stop my legs melting
